Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

It had been a few years that I had not returned to Alberobello, I remembered it less crowded with shops where you can find a bit of everything, mostly junk to be honest, but looking good in the pile still something valid is found.
The atmosphere they are able to recreate is unique, however, a shame about the hustle and bustle of organized groups of cruise ships that roam here and there with little time available and the urgent need to enter everywhere, before reaching the restaurant that wait.
Another negative aspect are the parking lots, all paid, often rather improvised and disorganized, it is not clear whether they are authorized or abusive.

This was my second visit to Alberobello with the first one in April and now in October. I Iwould definitely recommend avoiding August generally because it is mostly crowded and hot.
✔️I love this place because of its originality as well as the romance. The best is if you stay overnight where are all the crowds from the cruise ships and the buses go home. You see the real alberobello, the stars, the quiet side with very few tourists and some locals and great places to eat and drink. I would definitely recommend staying at the romantic truly on the south side of the village where we had our own terrace and enjoyed the views. I also agree that the other side Al picola is amazing., but please pick a real truly if you can afford it to to experience the real deal. I can actually live here. I love it so much.

We saved our Alberobello visit for late afternoon after exploring and sunbathing in the seaside town of Monopoli.
From Monopoli it's around half an hour drive passing through beautiful countryside.
First, we reached the northern Alberobello area, called Rione Aia Piccola where we parked our car (metered parking).
This is one hill of Alberobello historic area from where you walk downhill.
In this part we enjoyed Trulli houses in peace with almost no one around, making great pics, not being rushed nor annoyed. You could approach houses, read plaques on some of them being relaxed and enjoying.
After that peaceful area you reach the bottom straight (bigger) street which divides those two hills.
The hill in front of you (Monti neighborhood) is likewise beautiful, but we got an impression we entered a theme park. Monti is literally packed with tourists, you cannot walk without bumping others, let alone making a photo with no one around. Every single Trulli house is a bar, restaurant, 'museum', work shop, gallery, gelato shop, souvenir shop...
From the pics I've posted you will easily conclude which one is from which part.
In total we spent around 3-4 hours in both parts of Alberobello.
The place is undoubtedly beautiful, however mass tourism and heavy commercialization are ruining it.

The people owning a store there are not friendly. You get the impression they hate the tourists.
We went to the Bar Bistrot Pierino staff was not friendly and they charged us €2 per person for sitting down at a table.
I am not recommending to visit the place. It is beautiful the cute little houses with their huts on but to see one inside €2 and it is nothing original to see.

Although Alberobello is definitely worth a visit, the Northern part of town is the best to visit.
Not spoiled by tourist shops, one can enjoy the authentic atmosphere in this part of town.

A pretty church outside and in but please dear god stop the bells ringing all night every night every 15 minutes. We all have watches in the 21st century.

This church is on the opposite side of the famous Trulli part of town, but really worth visiting. There is also a tiny tourist shop inside a Trulli close-by which seems somewhat original. I liked that.

The old part of Bari is a joy to explore on foot, narrow streets inhabited by locals and not crammed with tourists, there are so many delights to find around every corner. A must see.

The chief draw is many trulli houses that are spread over a considerable area. The largest is to the southerly side of the principal road, Largo Martellotta, and provides the main tourist attraction with many souvenir shops and the like. The area to the north of Largo Martellotta seems to have rather more trulli houses in general occupation- and rather less tourists. Well worth a visit.

The dwellings and the history of the Trulli houses is so interesting and such a unique place to see. Not a tourist attraction, but an amazing area to wander the lanes and streets in the heart of the trulli houses. There is a free museum or two to go inside to take a look at furnishings. We learned that while some people still live there full time, many houses are second homes. We were so fortunate to go inside a trulli house currently lived in. The stores and restaurants in the shopping area are also in trulli buildings, which are interesting to see. Don’t go to Puglia without stopping at this amazing town.
