The “Little District” is quieter and less crowded than the Monti Neighborhood. It was made obvious by the vases with flowering plants, brightly colored doors, and lace curtains on the windows that this is an area where real people live. We felt it was the most interesting part of Alberobello The neighborhood is made up of approximately 400 trulli, and almost none are used for commercial activities other than B&Bs, and a few very small hotels. This quiet and calm area is great for photos. The name derives from the ancient custom of beating wheat in the square.

Recognized as another prominent trulli collection, this one is not as busy as Rione Monti or as commercial. Despite that, there is an impressive collection of conical, mushroom lookalikes here. I noted one trulli that was open to the public – I am not sure if there was a charge, but since I had been inside Trulli Sovrano, the largest, I did not venture in.
