Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

I went by boat and the experience of swimming in the caves is amazing. I believe they can be reach by the road - just be careful when climbing down.

We visited the caves with Salento Nautica, which has an office at the top of the hill overlooking the city, near the Basilica and the lighthouse. Their prices were fair, they gave us a ride back down to the port where we met their boat and the boat captain/guide was terrific. The views were spectacular, and the experience of getting so close to the grotte and actually going in to some of them was equally impressive. This is a must for anyone visiting the area. One last anecdote...when we pulled into a cove to swim in the Adriatic, the water was perhaps 15-20 feet deep. As I dove in from the boat, I lost a necklace with religious medals on it. The water was so clear that the boat captain dove right in and swam to the bottom and retrieved it for me...a great memory!
