The pleasant 14th-century Castello Inferiore (Lower Castle) takes up one side of the central square in Marostica, and can be visited.

Very well preserved medieval castle, in front of the castle is a beautiful main square of the city, and inside of the castle are entrances to the city walls and castle itself

We were due to be here during the bi-annual festivities in September. Unfortunately illness curtailed that trip and we did not make it. We have visited just recently, at dusk, and enjoyed looking around at the costumes & rooms inside the Castle. Well worth a visit and hopefully we will be here in September 2020 when the next festival is on.

Very beautiful view along the ridge of the mountain. Old castle stone walls are ruined and not well maintained. Chess compatition is held every year in the town under the castle. Today evening we will start to salzburg in austria by train. We enjoyed 5 days trip in venice region. We mostly enjoyed time in venice, and went to burano, verona, sirmione and garda lake resort. Our italian friend couple has a boat and a car, so we could go and see many places and could approach to the very places.

Marostica has two different castles, Castello Superiore and Castello Inferiore. The Castello Superiore is located on top of a hill and overlooks the town and the surrounding landscape. The Castello Inferiore is located in the main piazza of the town and guards the main entrance. Both the castles have interesting architecture and are worth a visit. Visitors can climb up to Castello Superiore to get good views of the town. The road leading up to the castle is an uphill walk, but is also accessible by car. The castle located on top of the hill can be reached through a path within the walls of the town which is quite pretty. There is also an alternate route for descending down which leads to a footpath outside the walls. The path has rough stones but is very picturesque with cultivated terraces and beautiful lush trees.

The castle is practically half of the town. Although the castle is the focal point, there is a lot more to see in this walkable city.

A good way to spend an hour on so exploring. Not a huge place and like so many Italian Castles not a lot to see internally but gives you insight of history of the town, Great views from battlements.

Good place to spend an afternoon... cute town with a great square to hang out at. We hiked up to the castle on the hill through the back of the town. Great lunch / dinner spot with a fantastic view and food.

A remarkable medieval town with the city wall intact.
Beautiful castle, well decorated to the time with tour guides in period costumes .
Take a climb to the top via several steep stairs and view the castle courtyard below and see the wall and city square.
A beautiful site and view.
