Nice intro to Port tasting

We decided to sample our first port at the home of Fonseca ports. After a windy, narrow drive down a dirt road, we found the parking for this Quinta. We arrived as a large group... read more

The steep vineyards on the right bank of the Tavora, which flows into the Douro is a sight you'll never forget. The vineyards were established in the early 19th century and continue to deliver beautiful, dense, velvety and powerful wines. We were fortunate to visit during harvest where we saw the traditional method of grape trodding in the large concrete... More

The Douro valley is beautiful, no doubt. The so called guided tour was actually an iPod that was given to us. The positive aspect was that they offered languages like German and not just English. If you want a passionate guide or insights into wine making choose a smaller vineyard.

Paid 7 euro for audio guide, walk through the vineyard but the best part was watching the truck came in and workers busy loading the grapes into the warehouse. Wine tasting was great and good value.

The audioguides have good information, but they are very poor quality, as 2 of our audioguides quit working after the first chapter. You take the tour yourself, and it is basically walking through two rows of grape vines. We bought wine bottles from the store and the bottles leaked in the car trunk. On the positive note, our daughter bought... More

We had a great visit to Quinta do Panascal. It's just off the main road along the Douro, a short distance from Pinhao. The side road is a bit narrow and windy, and the drive up to the Quinta somewhat steep and VERY narrow. The view from the quinta and the vineyards was beautiful. For 7 euros each, they provided... We decided to sample our first port at the home of Fonseca ports. After a windy, narrow drive down a dirt road, we found the parking for this Quinta. We arrived as a large group was leaving and had the tasting room to ourselves for most of our visit. There are many types of port you can select from with... More

If you going to the Duoro Valley and you don't want to be tied to an appointment, this is the place to go. Easy to get to and the tour is interesting and if it is a nice day, you can see a lot. The tour costs money but includes the audio and tastings.

We drove through Douro Valley and chose this place for a wine tasting. The place is beautiful, and quiet. There was only one other couple there, so we walked around, listening to the audio-guide and taking up the views in complete peace. After the tour, we had a lot of questions about details of wine making, and got answers to... More

We took the opportunity to take a boat ride from Pinhao (not difficult to arrange) and a taxi back. The trip down the Duoro was about twenty minutes and well worth it.Take a smaller boat as it can then navigate up the creek almost to the doors of the Quinta. Tour of the vineyard was exceptional aided by the audio kit... More

At this quinta you can get a great audio tour that guides you through the history of vine planting, grapes and the like. Very different to what we have experienced during all the other tours we did. You will walk along the wine estate and get a detailed description of what you see around you. We tested both the German... More
