We were based in Pinhão therefore not only did we not need a train in fact there wasn’t an option for a vineyard tour by train? There are numerous boat trips from which you can see all of them, although they didn’t stop!
However from Pinhão you can walk to the Bodega Quinta do Bonfim or even to Calvahas which was spectacular. They have a bus which takes you way up into their vineyards in the mountains giving you some incredible views. At the end of the tour there is a well stocked shop and tasting room.
