Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The San Miguel Church is part of the Convent of the Carmelite Fathers and was founded in 1587 to honor St. Michael. It was here that San Juan de la Cruz died on Dec. 14, 1591. The convent has a museum dedicated to San Juan de la Cruz. The church has the Neoclassic architecture and was constructed in the 19th century to replace the earlier church. The façade has a niche that measures 3 meters high and has a statue of St. Michael the Archangel. This was created by the sculptor Marcelo Gongora from Ubeda. The interior has three naves and has a crossing, covered with vaults. There is a cupola with a lantern. The cupola’s exterior is covered with ceramic tiles of many colors.

Important paintings include the Conquest of Ubeda by San Fernando, scenes from the life of San Juan de la Cruz and Santa Teresa de Jesus. There are paintings that show Biblical scenes like the Resurrection of Christ, San Jose, Cristo de la Buena Muerte, and the Rapture of Elias. All of these were the work of the artist Manuel Garcia Villacañas.

The church hosts the Cofradias of Cristo de la Buena Muerte and the Virgen del Carmen. The church has an oratory which has the sepulcher of San Juan de la Cruz.
