OK I have to admit that coming here was the whole point of our trip to Switzerland. I have had St. Barnards for almost 50 years, so this was pilgrimage for me to visit the Barry Foundation. Now that the monks have stopped their breeding program, the Barry Foundation is carrying on to keep the true Saint breed alive. The... More

The story of the St Bernard Hospice is enhanced greatly by the presence of so many St Bernard dogs. It was especially nice to see ten little (?) puppies. The restaurant is quite good also.

Both the children thoroughly enjoyed a visit to this museum. It is very well maintained. The museum itself has so much history and information about the area and dogs, we learned loads! It was all well laid out and kept the interest all the way through. Good size and enough information to take on board. Films to watch and buttons... More

Great for kids - big and small. Nice size museum. Take in the dogs or educate yourself upstairs with the areas' history, history of the dogs and watch the Beethoven movie too.

I owned a St Bernard many years ago. Visiting Martigny and the Barry foundation has been a life dream for me. I also visited the dogs in the Grand St Bernard pass which I did enjoy more as you seen the dogs out walking in the mountains. It is well worth the visit and be sure to wait for them... More

Well maintained place but lethargic looking dogs and just one litter of puppies. Can't think why we agreed to go in - there was just under an hour before it closed, the museum section wasn't open, they could only take cash and they wouldn't reduce the fee in the light of the above! Anyway, we agreed to pay the full... More

Dear Chris b Thank you for your feedback. We are very sorry for the inconvenience. The museum offers a very detailed history of the area and the hostel. We spent a fair amount of time reading about the ancient travelers and the perils of trying to navigate the pass between Italy and Switzerland. Unfortunately, there were only a few dogs in cages and one being brushed when we visited --- no cute puppies.

Dear MMAMT, Thank you for your feedback. We are very glad you enjoyed the Museum. During the whole day, the dogs go for a walk and this is the reason you saw only a few dogs. The Museum can host a maximum of 12 dogs. The puppies are at the Museum 6 weeks after their birth. We hope to see... More

There wasn't much to do in the area at the time but I enjoyed learning about the dogs in this well played out museum. And you can see the actual St. Benard's as well.

Well organized (as everything in Switzerland) but organization is not every thing. Lots of Saint Bernard memorabilia, videos and history, for me not really interesting. The real attraction, the dogs they self, a bit disappointing, even though there were 11 puppies and some huge examples of this amazing breed. The dogs looked sad and lazy the day we visited- I...
