Just hop on and enjoy the scenic views. Good way to get some nice photos, but be mindful of the time of trains as you'd have to wait for around 30 mins to get the return train.

Modern, narrow gauge trains climb clinging to the valley sides and offer great views of the Trient valley.

It is actually a combination of 2 trains: one running from St. Gervais to Vallorcine and the other from there to Martigny. The journey from Servoz to Vallorcine is free for hotel card holders but if you cross Vallorcine , you have to pay for the whole journey which is about Euro 58. You can buy if from sncf site... I travelled on the Mont Blanc Express from Martigny to Chamonix and return. It was a fantastic ride: the views of Mont Blanc and the surrounding Alps are breathtaking as this little train scrambles up impossibly steep mountainsides, clings to the edge of a precipitous valley and then burrows through the hills to reach Chamonix. It really is an experience... More

Travelled from St-Gervais to Chamonix. Has been quite an experience with the gradients this train has to climb. Some lovely mountain views also, however, the scenery fades in comparison with what can be seen on Rhatische Bahn or Bernina Express.

Whilst the scenery and journey are nice, our experience was rather ruined by stupid ticketing rules. As a lodger in the Chamonix Valley we had a card that stated that there is free use of the train between Servoz and Vallorcine. What it does not say is that if you go outside of this zone then you have to pay... More

I used the train which was an 0810 departure with very few people on board. The train seemed new with good facilities for recreational equipment such as skies and mountain bikes. This train was far better gthan anything in the UK!

Was my commuter train for a year and loved every ride in it!! A must do for anyone who likes trains and incredible mountain sceneries. Great way to get to Finhaut and hike down to Martigny or up to Emosson

A wonderful journey through the picturesque mountainside on a clean and comfortable train with panoramic views. Breathtaking views of the Mont Blanc massif as you approach Chamonix - probably the best part of the trip. Chamonix itself is lovely and well worth a visit, with lots of great bars, shops and cafes. Martigny is much quieter and probably not worth... More
