Visit to church
Jul 2019 • Solo
I went to the church during a visit to Edam, entry is free, there was no music at the time as was during the day, well worth a visit, recommended.

Fantastic 750 year old church and town square
Apr 2017 • Friends
Haarlem itself has been there as long as Amsterdam has .I love their great church which was built in 1266 as a Catholic church then and in the mid 1500's it became a protestant church after the reformation . And in in 1735 the great pipe organ that the protestant religion had installed started giving free concerts once a week . Now it costs €2.50 for a entrance fee . Its one big beautiful church . Off the town square is the Frans Hal museum where his art is displayed . Frans Hal didnt make the kind of money that Rembrandt did painting the towns officials back then but the ordinary man and more of lesser importance people . His work is displayed on the walls of his museum here . Haarlem has a large old town square with bikes whizzing by all day . And of course the regular canals of Holland too . Its a more relaxed town in Holland/Netherlands . Nowhere near as big as Amsterdam , but just as old . Its only about 40 minutes from Amsterdam by train or car . Bring your bike along on the train too . Happy biking here too .

Very nice combination of a beautiful concert and fantastic food!
Jun 2017 • Solo
Had a very nice evening in Edam, listening to a beautiful concert followed by a very fantastic meal. The church, just half an hour away from Amsterdam city centre, provided a special atmosphere. Definitely worth the trip.

Singing in Edam
May 2017 • Business
Singing in a big church like 'Grote Kerk' Edam, accompanied by Paola Poncet, was an incredible experience. I was afraid my voice would get lost in space, but on the contrary, the songs and arias I sang remained perfectly clear. The audience loved it. Dinner afterwards in the church talking to members of the audience was great and a very rare experience.
Fantastic food!

beautiful evening
May 2017 • Couples
You don't get to play on a big Erard Grand Piano from the late nineteenth century (1885). The instrument is very powerful and clear and has no problem with the acoustics at all.
Francesca's (Lanza's) voice sounded beautiful and the audience were really moved by her singing. And who on earth gets dinner form the organisers (chef Petra van Niftrik and instrument maker Joop Klinkhamer) together with other music lovers. A rare experience. We would love if such a thing would happen in Italy!

Concerts by great musicians combined with delicious food
Apr 2017 • Solo
I checked out the website of this concert dinner series. The musicians featured here are renowned and being a professional musician myself, I can warmly recommend them. I will certainly go to one or more of these concerts.
Petra's cuisine is well known to Amsterdam restaurant visitors because, aside from her catering activities, she also had a big restaurant (Tatin), which I knew well. Her food is delicious without being unduly pretentious. The wines are always excellent.
The fact that musicians and music lovers, local and foreign, (not to forget lovers of good food) can meet afterwards is absolutely great and is, to the best of my knowledge, almost never done.
It is an excellent way to transcend the normal tourist experience where one is often doomed to scratch the surface and human contact stays limited to hospitality professionals.

A must-do, even when in Amsterdam
Apr 2017 • Couples
Edam, a beautiful little town on the former Zuiderzee border, known for its signature bowl sized cheeses and its beautiful old (protestant) Great Church. It's catholic twin sister Volendam is known for different reasons, a must see bus tour from Amsterdam but extremely touristy. Edam is the hidden gem, its beauty engraved in the small canals, the beautiful old houses. And only 25 minutes out of Amsterdam. And now even better: the Great Church Edam Concertdinners. As a fan of the haute cuisine qualities of Chef Petra van Niftrik and an admirer of Ancient Music I can not but look forward with great expectations to attending one ore more of these events. You won't be dissappointed, it will be one of those events you will remember with great fondness for the rest of your life.

We are of course very grateful for this positive review of the forthcoming series. One thing though: the series features Romantic music. To younger generations this might seem 'ancient' but our 1885 Erard Concert Grand is already a product of the industrial revolution.

Fine food and great classical music
Apr 2017 • Couples
Excellent opportunity to visit the charming and picturesque town of Edam and combining fine food prepared by an excellent chef while listening to great classical musicians. The Great Church of Edam is very beautiful. Not to be missed!!! Only attending the concert is also a possibility.

Who could disagree? We also feel the combination is excellent and we hope the concerts will develop into a meeting place for music lovers and gourmets from all nationalities. Too often they don't meet at all! Many thanks for the review.

Looking very much forward to play in Edam Concerts
Apr 2017
A very nice chamber music concert series with the option to have after the concert a great dinner prepared by Chef Petra van Niftrik.
I'll be playing with Eric Hoeprich and Silvia Márquez the 10th of June a beautiful program of music for clarinet, viola and piano.

Anyone looking for great music in a wonderful church in this dreamy small town, where the concert will be followed by gourmet food, will not be disappointed. Only twenty minutes from Amsterdam Central Station, the bus stops in front of the church.
