Great

Really interesting and beautiful place that is certainly worth a visit. Even though Archeon is a great place for kids we visited as adults and had a great time and found it to be very interesting. It's particularly nice how everything is open and you can really touch and interact with the exhibitions. If you have the Museumkaart or just fancy doing something different when in the Netherlands I would highly reccomend a visit!

Great, historical park
Jul 2019
Super fun park. The combination of workshops, shows and things to see makes for a cool park. The park starts in prehistoric times, than Roman times and at last the Middle Ages. Actors play roles throughout the parks in the different time frames. They excell at this and you can ask them all sorts of questions. Super great for kids.

Nice family visit
Jun 2020 • Family
We visited here as a family of 4 with boys aged 9 & 12 using our Museumkaarts. We spent about 3 hours there and all enjoyed it. The downsides for us were the presentations were all in Dutch (but lots of signage and a guidebook in English) and we paid for activity card but the activities were all too young for our kids so I definitely wouldn’t bother if your kids are over 8. We saw lots of younger kids enjoying them though. We all enjoyed the gladiator show the most. Parking is expensive as are snacks/ cold drinks.

Discover history having fun, feeling far away from times today
Jun 2020 • Family
We had a lovely day; nice family park with various things to learn, discover and do. Fun for kids and their parents. Sword foghting, shooting bow and arrow, making candles and bracelets. Staff all dressed in the historic setting they work in; very hospitable and enjoying the working they do. We booked including a lunch which was great value for money. We enjoyed our day a lot and are likely to return. You are really in a different place and time, though are house is just a few km away.

History (from Stone Age till Middle Ages) authentically brought back to life
Aug 2019
Really a great park for all ages! 5* for the beautifully reconstructed way of living and working in those bygone eras. The big plus is the presence of excellent "interpreters": people who are dressed up and living as much as possible like the people back then. Clothes made by themselves in the authentic way, often walking bare feet (as a choice, because in those times they could choose as well) They know so much about the era they are supposedly living in and can transmit with passion so much knowledge in a very fascinating way. Sincere compliments to them!

We couldn't see all the park in one day and decided to come back another day to see more areas and attend tours and the gladiator shows in the arena. Sincere compliments to all "interpreters" and the craftsmen who built up this fantastic park!

Also great that the "museumkaart" provides free entrance. Otherwise around €20 p.p., online a little bit cheaper.

Friendly for Children

Very interactive park especially for children. The staff wear the clothes of Romans and medievals and show the technology and lifestyle in these periods. A bit expensive for non-museumkaarthouders. The reconstruction of the Roman camp and the bath seems well done. The museum is less attractive.

Must to go!

Wonderful! There is so much to see. If you have the museumkaart the entrance is free of charge. Do not forget to buy (very cheap) the activities ticket for your kids.

Family day

Very interactive and interesting park for visiting with children. You can touch and move to different history periods, participate in workshops on making jewelry, cooking bread etc. There are some cafes where you can have lunch and have a drink.

So different from how it once was
Aug 2018 • Family
We decided to take the six, seven and seventeen years old on educational trip to the Archeon. I went there was in the nineties as a child and remembered being very impressed with the entrance building and the houses which represented the different times. And also with the people working there, acting like they really belonged there.
Well I was already confused when we first arrived, because where was that entrance building and also the park seemed so small. Did things look so much bigger as a child or was I mixing different experiences up in my head.... Well it turned out I went before they went bankrupt in the late nineties and were forced to chance the whole look of the park due to downsizing. What a shame!
You can travel far back in time at the Archeon but truthfully I wanted to travel only 25 years back in time and show my family the park I saw back then.
It is still a nice park but not as impressive as it once was.
It's also very hard to tell where to guided tour starts and who leads them. Seemed like there were quite a number of people there who didn't work for the park but were dressed up like they belonged there.
If it wasn't for a discount we were given, I would say it's too expensive for what it has to offer.
