If you want a pleasant walk, in wonderful surroundings and with wildlife in abundance - this is ideal. We visit a couple of times a month for a walk, bring the dslr down and take photos of the birds and wildlife. The hides are all accessible for able and disabled bodied people and you can get a wheelchair to everywhere... More

I feel privileged to live so close to such a fantastic spot of natural beauty. Only 3ish miles from me now. But I have been a regular frequenter since I was a toddler (Im 43 now!) and never get bored. This is a one time open cast mine site that was left to nature to reclaim, and is now an... More

Lovely evening walk. The only thing that let's it down are the dog owners who don't pick up their poop.

£1 for a bag of duck food per child and it occupies them for ages. The are loads of little or long walks. The bird hide is great and you always see loads of birds. There's a tiny park with wooden things to climb on. Pond dipping in summer which is free if you join the rspb. Take a picnic... More

Wonderful place to visit, various walks you can do. Very clean. It costs £2.50 to park (which you pay in the shop). Extremely friendly staff! Lovely areas to sit outside so would recommend that you extend your day by taking a picnic. Definitely worth another visit!

It is some time since we visited Fairburn Ings and therefore decided to return. The Visitor Centre has a shop and also a small cafe with seats overlooking a bird feeding area. We obtained a current map of the reserve and the friendly staff advised on what could possibly be seen. We started out on the area closest to the... More

Nice easy walk, good parking, small area for hot drinks & sandwiches but it's not a cafe more just for snacks. Can get pretty muddy.

It is amazing how nature, with some huan assistance, can make old industrial sites places of beauty. RSPB have done a good job in applying the right amount of "assitance" in pathways, view points and its visitor centre. As allways the time of year and weather affect what wildlife you will see. Patience and binoculars are needed too. Well worth... More

Visit the RSPB site at Fairburn, plenty of lovely walking around the Ings or over the fields. Visitor centre open with refreshments and helpful staff. Take camera as you'll see plenty of wildlife and if your very lucky a Kingfisher.

Had a lovely Riverbank walk and saw lots of wildlife.... I loved the fact that you could hire a mobile scooter for those that need one. There are different walks to be had too, short or longer. Something for everyone, young or older.... Great day out... :-)) x
