Yes agreed nice place but there are better green spaces in and around London that you don’t have to put yourself through the awful ordeal of visiting Enfield

Great for an outing

Forty Hall makes for a great outing, especially if you pick a day with the farmers market. Bring the dogs, go for a walk, explore the area. Does the job well!

An enjoyable tranquil place to visit
Jul 2021
We only recently found out about Forty Hall by accident as we drove past after doing something else in the area and what a find it was.
We went back to the area the next week just to visit Forty Hall after reading about the place online.
This place is tucked away in a residential street and here you will find a Jacobean Hall that was built for Sir Nicholas Rainton a former mayor in 1632. The hall has extensive parkland surrounding it.
We were surprised at just how big the place was as there are lots of pathways and lots of really interesting walks to do. It also wasn’t really that busy when we were there.
This is the place for you if you love lakes, gardens and it also was a surprise to find that there is woodland there too.
There is also a museum, café, a farm, a farm shop, a vineyard and a monthly farmers market is held here.
The grounds were very clean and well maintained and we will certainly be going again to Forty Hall as we didn’t see all of the place, but did see enough of this tranquil place to want to visit it again now that we have found it.

Selfish Visitors

This place is being ruined by selfish cyclists and dog walkers. The cyclists have no regard for pedestrians. The dog walkers do not keep their dogs under control. Too many people feed bread to the ducks despite the clear signs telling them not to because of the harm it causes.

Great gardens but toilets closed
Sep 2020 • Family
We visited the beautiful grounds to meet my sister and nephew to have a celebratory covid distanced birthday picnic and walk round the grounds. We bought some drinks just before the cafe closed. After finishing our drinks, we we're not allowed to use the toilets which according to the website are open until 7pm. This was 5pm before a 90 mins journey home. The toilets we're the other side of a barrier with a man supervising the barrier who would not let us in, despite having a young child with us. So I'm afraid a big black mark.

Brilliant place
Sep 2020 • Friends
Have visited Forty Hall many, many times before and during lockdown. It offers so much - a walled garden, spaces to sit/picnic, a lake, fishing, a working farm, a farm shop and vineyard. Once a month there is a farmer's market. The house is worth a visit. Great starting point for some amazing walks. Absolutely love the place. Highly recommend.
