Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Been coming to Ponty for 35+ years is and it’s always been a great course to visit and one of my favourites in Uk having busted most of them. Everything very accessible and great views of enclosures and course all in a small area. Racing always very competitive and it’s easy to get to ( though often not easy to leave!)
Went again today - got the Yorkshireman’s deal of admission/pie and pint for me and partner (veggie) - no veggie pie option despite multiple offers on their menu. Disappointing as I know Ponty are keen to improve their food offer - but seemed less food offer than ever strangely. Ordering pint took 20 mins. Very short staffed. All of this wouldn’t be such a problem but Ponty have this day as oap go free day - great idea and my parents come along this year and last via a pre booked ticket - so they know it’s going to be busy but they just weren’t geared up for it.
Backed plenty of winners so that helped restore positive outlook on the day - but for a course that obviously wants to do better they are falling short. sorry.

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review, your feedback is much appreciated. We do apologise you were unable to get a vegetarian option with your True Yorkshireman Package, a vegetarian option should have been available, if it is not on offer in the future please do come and see us in the Raceday Office and we will remedy this for you. We hope to welcome you back to Ponte Races again soon.

Attended the opening meeting of the 2023 season with my other half and had good day out, shame about the rain but it did not spoil the day. The food in the bistro was good as always. I did notice that the car park exit route had reverted to the original one which had been in place for many years. Last season it changed several times and cars were also allowed to come in as race traffic was going out. Well done Pontefract keep it like that then everyone know where they are going.

The day 3/10/22 our dad Peter brought us together to Ponty, for a dad who had first come to Ponty races in the 60s when the likes of Lester Piggott, Pat Eddery, Viv Nickholson and her husband used to come along with John Rickman as commentator.
The day was great, weather, beer, comfort and winners all around. We will tell our children of farthers last wish and they will tell our grand children of which there are many the joy it has brought our family. Sadley dad passed b4 17/10/22 meet I did and have video and pics of both meets and will cherrish for ever.
Thank you Ponty races for dads day.

I took a group to 4 meetings this year and each time everything was perfect, we had a table for the day in the Park Suite and couldn't fault one thing.

We had a lovely day at the last day of the season. Sun was out and quite busy with alot of atmosphere. A choice of bars and different places for eating if not in the picnic area. You can easily from course to seeing the parade ring and winner's getting their trophy. We'll organised and helpful stall.

How far is the walk from premier inn xscape to the race course, and what is the route?
Can I take alcohol into pontefract race course
Ponte R
Pontefract, England, United Kingdom1 contribution
Picnics are welcomed in every enclosure EXCEPT the Premier Enclosure.
A small amount of alcohol can also be brought in to the Racecourse as part of a picnic. This equates to a maximum of 4 cans per person or half a bottle of wine per person. However, please note that no glass bottles can be brought in to the enclosures. If you would rather bring spirits, please bring the pre-mixed cans.
There are a number of food outlets around the Racecourse and we have additional items available at every race meeting that can be added to your raceday tickets. There are also a number of vending vans available throughout the Racecourse enclosures.

Is the racecourse within walking distance of Tanshelf railway station & if so is it easy to find?

Yes it’s about a 2 minute walk. You come out of the train station and is straight across the main road. You can’t miss it.

I’m thinking of booking a table in your premier dining room. But does it get busy and how many tables/ seats are there. 😉
Ponte R
Pontefract, England, United Kingdom1 contribution
The Dining Room holds around 100 - 120 people depending on the size of the tables. We normally cater for at least two sittings throughout a race meeting
