- tsm85990Adelaide, Australia130 contributionsSeppeltsfield is well worth a visit. Fino restaurant is a must include.Great experience. Had the RAA members lunch at Fino restaurant…pay for three course meal but get upgraded to a four course meal. Set menu but was great. Tasty. Included was a tasting. This was a highlight. Lots of wine to enjoy and laughs with our hostess. Seppeltsfield is well worth the visit. Lots to see and do. If you an RAA member I would strongly suggest that deal. If not a member….join…..Thank you for sharing your great experience at Seppeltsfield Estate! We're thrilled you enjoyed the lunch at Fino restaurant and the wine tasting in cellar door. - ArghONaughtMelbourne, Australia144 contributionsWorth a stop to have been thereThis is the quintessential Barossa winery famous for having vintage tawny for every year for over a century. Their wines are better than average but IMO not great for our tastes. however even their cheapest Para tawny is pretty good. The staff in the 'cellar door' were attentive and informative but at the end of the day it is a big operation and not so personal. There are a few other bits in the complex like a gallery, gift shop, etc, restaurant and 'cafe'. The 'cafe' should be an embarrassment as the winery is iconic but the 'producers platter' is not generous and is served in a cardboard tray. Inside seating is more nasty camp ground than cafe; it was 38C when we visited and in contrast most days sitting outside would be 'a moment'. - Give the 'cafe' a wide miss unless you get a platter with eyes wide open. It might win a gong for one of the most uninspiring platters ever from any wine region. On the way you probably will pass the Seppelt family mausoleum. A few steps climb to get to it but nice views.Thank you for taking the time to share your honest feedback about your recent visit to Seppeltsfield Estate. We truly value all feedback as it helps us to continually improve and refine our offerings. We're glad to hear that you appreciate the historic significance of our estate and enjoyed the experience of tasting our wines, particularly the Para Tawny. However, we're sorry to learn that some aspects of your visit did not meet your expectations. Your comments about the cafe experience are noted, and we apologise for any disappointment caused. We are continuously working to enhance the overall guest experience, and your feedback regarding the cafe's offerings and ambiance will be taken into consideration as we strive to make improvements. We're pleased to hear that you found our staff at the cellar door to be attentive and informative. Providing excellent service is a priority for us, and we're glad they made a positive impression. Thank you again for your feedback, and we hope to have the opportunity to welcome you back to Seppeltsfield Estate in the future, where we aim to exceed your expectations in every aspect of your visit. - AlexUnited Kingdom58 contributionsGreat stop for a quick port tasting.Stopped off for an hour at this beautiful location. A quick peruse of the art gallery was followed by a helpful member of staff being able to arrange a shorter version of their normal wine tasting to focus on their fortified wines. David was extremely welcoming and knowledgable (especially as it was only his second day!) After trying four of their fortified wines, we moved onto their skincare barn and had a great time trying out their products in their huge sink. A quick coffee from their coffee shop and we had to hit the road. Would highly recommend for a visit, even if you don’t give the wine tasting a go! For info, the wine tasting was free if you bought some wine. Otherwise, it was advertised at $15 per person (which gave you at least 8 wines… we only tried their 4 fortified wines so don’t quote me!). They also offer a tasting of their 100 year old port for $100!Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at Seppeltsfield Estate. We're delighted to hear that you enjoyed your visit. - Sue TMelbourne, Australia3,555 contributions"WOW!! Beautiful Seppeltsfield Estate Barossa Valley"WOW!! How beautiful is Seppeltsfield Estate. My husband and I only had coffee at Octeine which is their onsite small cafe at the entrance (could be so much better) but we also came to have a stroll around the estate. They have an onsite restaurant Fino which looked amazing and also the cellar door. Onsite is a very tasteful shop Vasse Virgin, which is a natural olive oil producer. I spent so much time here sampling their products. The displays and decor are excellent along with the customer service. The stop here is a must when visiting the estate.Thank you for your wonderful review. We're delighted you and your husband enjoyed your visit to Seppeltsfield Estate. We appreciate your feedback about Octeine and will take it into consideration. It's great to hear you enjoyed exploring Vasse Virgin and found their products and service exceptional. Lots of beautiful things to see - crafts, glass blowing, leather crafts, hat making, and the Vasse products on sale were amazing! We thought we would do a wine tasting, while we were there. Maddie was extremely helpful, and it was because of her personality and friendliness that we decided to purchase some delicious wines. Thank you Maddie for a delightful afternoon.Thank you for your visit and for the kind feedback. Seppeltsfield Winery is a must to visit, the gardens are beautiful.
We did the Village Discovery Tour, lovely little tour show casing the history of the winery whilst enjoying a glass of Seppeltsfield wine. Sam took us through many of the lovely shops show casing local artist works and Vasse Virgin shop is a must. The skin products are lovely.
Fino restaurant looks amazing, did not stay for lunch but part of the tour we were able to try the amazing sour dough bread.
The tour finished off with wine tasting, walked away with a few bottles to enjoy on our ongoing trip of SA.
Thank you Sam for the tour and to all the lovely staff we met.
We will be definitely dine at the sister restaurant called Feno Veno in Adelaide.

Driving into Tanunda, we drive past endless vineyards, all with the Seppeltsfield sign on them so when it was recommended that we visit, we decided to take the advice.
The grounds themselves are beautiful to walk around, which we thoroughly enjoyed doing.
The wine tasting was set up in a more commercial style. It's a large room with several round bars set up for tastings and a it was a little busy, we did have to wait a while for service which detracted slightly from the experience as it gave us the opinion that it was inconsequential to them if we were there or not.
The wines themselves were nice although for the number of vineyards we saw, we did expect more however we thoroughly enjoyed the dessert wines and did end up purchasing some.
Overall it was a nice experience that could have been vastly improved upon by some more attentive customer service.

Thank you for taking the time to review our winery, we appreciate your feedback. Our team certainly do pride themselves on taking care of all our guests, we certainly are grateful that you visited us and enjoyed the fortified wine styles. Although busier on weekends, this is no reason to feel as though you weren't attended to and your feedback will be passed along to the team for action.

Honestly and sincerely we both found "the seppeltsfield/FINO signature experience" very underwhelming.
The whole 6 courses had a significant lack of "wow this is so good" and was rather "okay". Glasses of wine were half measures instead of full standard drinks. Setting is cafe style with hard chairs & plain decore.
Some of the pairing was questionably off, we were served quite a strong fortified "dessert style" wine with olives an pickle veg for first course, was a terrible combination. The fortified was bitter sweet, and then vinigar soaked veg was quite clashing.
In total it was more expensive than the price of D'arenberg Winerys degustation, and not even close to the same quality of food.
Its a beautiful winery though, rich in history and scenery. I highly recomend doing a full winery tour and wine tasting but unfortunately my partner and I wouldn't recomend the Seppeltsfield/FINO signature experience.
Nigel was an excelent tour guide through the homested and centennial port cellars.

A wine experience to be enjoyed at great value for the cost (but you get that refunded if you buy wine). Our host was a lovely girl who was passionate and knowledgeable about her job and it was interesting to hear the history of the place. Beautiful gardens to be enjoyed and there is so much more to see there than just the winery with local artists/crafter's workshops, cafe and more.
Would definitely recommend the visit.

Upon arrival (with 40 mins to go till closure) we were almost discouraged for a wine tasting by a staff member. Eventually we were seated for the wine tasting. The service was appalling. Upon been ignored we had no other option but to walk out. My husband buys wine from all over Australia but this will go down very negatively.

Fino restaurant states open until 5pm, we arrived at 4.30 Easter Saturday and denied water, drink of any sort. Restaurant closed as the waitress stated they had been smashed worked so hard and they have to pay their workers 50 bucks an hour and can’t afford anymore!!!
People eating and drinking in the restaurant at the time and we asked for one drink only as had just finished the Segway tour and thought this restaurant would be nice well don’t bother as the service is below standard.
Good Luck

Visited this complex on a hot summers day and chose the wine tasting experience pre lunch. Not impressed - was given no history/explanation of the wines and when we tried to engage the wine person we still got nothing. Other stations appeared to be a great deal more engaged. A disappointing experience.

We first came to Seppeltsfield in 2009. Since then a lot has changed.
The place itself had some major refurb which made the place more attractive and worth visiting when you are from overseas or interstate.
The tasting are much more relaxed, the tour/history experience is very informative.
The best part, you can try the wine that you were born in! Isn’t that a treat!

Seppeltsfield is an incredible winery, with some of the best Fortified Wines you can get in Australia, if not the world.
A lesser known strength of Seppeltsfield is it's Cooperage.
Andrew, the head Cooper, gave us an experience I'd never forget! He walked us through, step by step, the old methods coopers used to build the barrels. Then after trialing the old method, Andrew and the guys would help us build the barrels in the new method. Surprisingly we actually got to do a lot of the work ourselves, which really gave me the feeling that it's MY barrel, one I made. Not just one I ordered.
With their careful guidance, the completed Barrel also looks just as good as any of the professional built ones they themselves completed. (Probably due to them standing over our shoulder helping us every step of the way). They are only allowed up to 4 (we had 3) and each person had a worker helping them at all times, so I never felt lost!
Anyone who's ever wanted a barrel, I highly recommend this course, Andrew and the guys are incredible in their assistance, knowledge and experience they share, and it was worth every cent.
Thanks guys!
