My mom and I came here on a whim on a beautiful day in early august. We were first struck by the stunning setting. The vineyard is on top of a hill overlooking the VA countryside. It has a stone patio with arbor over several tables and chairs. We each ordered a flight, along with a cheeseboard and sat on... More

My boyfriend and I visited this vineyard for a quick tasting 20 minutes before they were closing. We waited a few minutes at the tasting bar before anyone approached us. Finally, a gentleman working behind the bar asked if we've been helped, I replied, "no, not yet." He then asked " what can I do for you?" I replied "... More

Hillsborough is one of my favorite vineyards in VA wine country. The views of the mountains are spectacular, especially in the Fall. The staff at Hillsborough are very friendly and make you feel like family. I think the vibe of this place is what I like most of all. The wines are good (by VA standards). I am a repeat... More

Visited on New Year's Day. $15 each for the Reserve Tasting. 2 whites and 3 reds. Prices are medium to high. We bought the Opal, a light smooth dry white and the Ruby, a medium/full bodied dry oak-aged red. Family owned by a Virginia Tech grad who had the soil tested to match the best grapes to grow on the... More

This winery is nestled on a hillside and has a sit down tasting which is the first one I have run across to do this. They have two tasting choices. One with mostly whites and sweets and the other with mostly reds. I went with the whites which was very nice and my server was super friendly. I ended up... More

I have not seen a prettier setting - the views from the terrace, even on a rainy day were gorgeous. The gardens are well-maintained and the rows and rows of grapes add so much to the vista. They were very busy and our server (you sit at tables) was hard-pressed to cover all her tables. She was very pleasant and... More

This place was absolutely beautiful with some of the most gorgeous views ever. It almost felt like being in Napa Valley. The winery had great wines (loved the Opal and Moonstone). The food items on the menu also looked great. There was lots of seating in a few areas which allow guest to enjoy all areas of the property without... More

We have been here a couple of times and both times come away wondering why we stopped. The staff is not particularly friendly. They tend to act like they are doing you a favor letting you taste their wine. The wines are just not that good, you can get better wines at 4 or 5 wineries less than 10 minutes... More

On vacation, when friends, who live in the area asked us to join them for a wine trail experience. Around every corner is another vineyard. We experienced their selection. The wines were awesome and only the scenery added to the experience.

Never have we gone to a vineyard and enjoyed ALL of the wines they had to offer in their tastings. Our server Cindy did an amazing job of telling us about the wines, property and the owners. We never felt rushed and what we really liked is instead of standing at a bar like almost all other vineyards do they... More
