We reserved 7 sites for our boy scout troop. Everyone had a great time. The boys said the bay was better than the real ocean because they could swim. Bathhouse was clean. Friendly park staff.

We visited First Landing for 3 days in mid-July. I thought it was really nice and was impressed with how clean and peaceful everything was. The visitors center is really big and the history displays are very nice. The people were helpful when we asked...More

Focused on the most Southern part of the State Park. Gorgeous trails along the lake with well-placed benches. Opportunities for viewing Osprey. Trails offer shade and views of salt marshes and waterways with various beaches and water sports. Parking is relatively cheap and there are...More

It is good to see that the historic areas are being preserved both in the State Park and also within the nearby military base. Worth the trip to take time out and try to transport yourself back to the early settler days.

Nice park with small but interesting visitor center. Several trails with both sand and boardwalk. Takes you through mostly cypress swamp. The bay is completely developed on the farside so not much for a nature view. Some herons and egrets. In the distance a bald...More

Was very surprised how nice this park is - plenty of walking trails for you, your family and your dogs. Nice park office with friendly, helpful staff. On the Chesapeake Bay and minutes from the Virginia Beach

Maybe I’m spoiled with the Florida and South Carolina State parks but I wasn’t impressed with the campground or the beach. If we’d had small children the beach would have been good as the waves were minimal and there was no undertow or drop offs...More

Loved the trails! Great for my 75 year old father and 5 year old granddaughter. Great assistance in the ranger station. Loved it for a picnic. Bring your water and bug spray (bugs were not too bad but it just keeps them away). Lots of...More

We enjoyed walking the trails in the morning before it got too hot then found a place to sit for the rest of the afternoon on the beautiful beach. Less crowded and more quiet than beaches down town.
