I've been to the Military Aviation Museum twice for the Flying Proms performance and one other time. The museum is quite interesting in itself with a variety of aircraft of different vintages. My favorite event at the Military Aviation Museum is, by far, is the "Flying Proms" which is a vintage aircraft show performed to the music of a live... More

Love going there seeing older planes flying. Also all their special events are the best. Don't miss the wonderful one with the Symphony play.

Thanks for sharing your experience. You are so right- the "Flying Proms" which will be on June 10th this year is a perfect family outing. Beach chairs, picnic baskets, green space, planes flying, and a full orchestra! Doesn't get much better does it? More

A bit of a drive in the country and totally worth every penny. Must see for locals, tourists, history buffs and non-history buffs.

Thanks, Patricia Thanks for taking the time to come out to our airport and museum in the beautiful rural farmland of Virginia Beach. By necessity, an airport can't be "at the beach", but I'm happy that you found the trip worthwhile. Thanks for being such a great ambassador for our museum! More

Being a child of a certain age , I grew up knowing that my MOM worked in defense of our country in a Defense plant packing parachutes . This sounded like fun, especially when she would tell of putting notes in the chutes, which was really a no no . But you had to know her to understand that she... More

This place was just jampacked with airplanes and related items from WW1 through WW2. You were able to get up close to the aircraft. There were so many planes packed in the 4 hangers thet is dificult to get around them

Hi, Joe! Thanks for sharing your experience with everyone. We do have to plead guilty on the charge of having too many airplanes, but isn't that simply an awesome problem to have? Come back soon! More

Thanks for sharing ! You are so right - we're open 363 days each year with only 7 staff members. It is our 200 wonderful volunteers who gave us 47,500 hours in 2016 alone who make this museum come alive for the public. Thanks for point them out! More

Great museum with lots of Airplanes and memorabilia. Take the self guided tour and you can look to your hearts content. Get up close and personally with the airplanes. You cannot get in them but you can walk around them, under them and if your lucky watch one land on there airstrip. Park out front has large dinosaurs for the... More

Thanks for pointing out the free picnic and dinosaur park! It's open to the public and it's free every day. Thanks also for pointing out how different our museum is. Only two of 70 different aircraft are behind ropes - as you said you can walk right up to the rest of them and smell the fuel, oil, and leather! More

We attended with a small group so one of the many docents conducted our tour. He was very familiar with the planes and had so many, in depth stories about the planes. Most of the planes are flown on a regular basis. Having read a lot of WWII planes, this visit was a real treat. The Museum has several planes... More

Thanks for pointing out that our exhibits don't hide behind velvet rope lines! There's nothing like the smell of oil, leather, and hydraulic fluid to make your visit are real sensory experience. Thanks for visiting, and thanks for telling the world about your experience! More

The museum is in the middle of nowhere. It has an amazing collection of World War I and World War II airplanes housed in three buildings. The guides were great, and they were volunteers. If you like history put this place on your list of things to see.

This museum is worth the journey from anywhere in Hampton Roads. All kinds of WW1 & 2 planes lovingly cared for. Plan on spending 3-4 hours and talking with the very knowledgeable docents who can offer a wealth of insight.
