Historic Jamestowne is the original site of the first permanent English settlement in America. Ongoing archaeology at the site of James Fort has changed our understanding of the struggles and triumphs of early 1600s life in Virginia. Living history programs and an archaeology museum tell the story of this dramatic rediscovery. The site is jointly administered by the National Park Service and Preservation Virginia.

The visitor center is tremendously large and informative. Our guides were great as was the upgraded site features. Good history tour! Beware fo the Cafe...very expensive for lunch/meals. Captive audience and they take advantage of the remoteness.

Love the outside walk through exhibits. Very authentic. There was no one at the Indian village when we were there to ask questions, but it was a very hot day. The fort did have people exhibiting displays and to ask questions. And if it is hot, you can always look at the exhibits inside. Definitely a good place to go.

We lucked out on our visit since it was free for Presidents Day. Our tour guide was a bit quiet and we walked out of the tour on our own after 30 minutes. Fascinating place.

Great place to relive the British colonial history. Enjoyed walking around the ruins of Jamestown, and driving the scenic loop.

If you love American history you will love Historic Jamestown. There is a museum and recreation of the village. Loved it.

Life in 1607 comes life. We visited the museum the archaearium which was very informative. Pocohantas's story came to life. We went to Memorial Church and met a wonderful guide at the close of day and he had a great grasp of history. We had stopped at the glassblowing before getting to the archeological site and that was also very... More

There was a lot to see both inside and outside. I was surprised at how great the museum was. You can walk around outside by following the path.

This is a distance of 9 miles from historic Williamsburg and worth the trip. I took the driving tour through the woods but wish I had time to visit bothe the museums and the ships in the river. This is a national park so those of us with a senior pass get in for 5 bucks! Great place to show... More

The Historic Jamestowne site is where the colonists actually settled. It's not the location for the reenactments, but the historic site where on going archaeological excavations continue to take place. We were in luck as we arrived about 10 minutes before a guided tour began. The tour guide was incredibly enthusiastic and definitely had a strong love of history in... More
