Miles of beautiful lake divided into three basins. First basin dedicated to swimming and kayaking. Basins one, two, and three open for kayaking, jet skiing, boating, fishing, canoes. Swimming from the shore along the perimeter of the lake. Great location to find Eagles, Coots (mud hens), comorands, gulls, ducks, blue herons, meganzers, buffleheads, and many more birds.

For a fall day a lot of people were out and about walking, golfing and out sailing in the lake. A little windy today but the sun was out and everyone was taking advantage of a great fall day. A huge lake and good access to enjoy yourself

Huge lake, helps to have your own transport to get to/from lake from town. Free parking, no admission fees. Miles long........plenty of walking opportunities on safe trails.

We enjoyed the beach at Lake Whatcom. We drove around a portion of the lake and loved the scenery. Homes are very pretty and the lake is enormous.

The lake provides a lovely setting for a ride or drive in a mobile cage along its shore. Not typical of mountain lakes in shape and that is refreshing.

My husband and I are middle aged, novice bike riders but we rented bikes in Bellingham, stuffed the in the back of our SUV and drove out to the trail at Whatscom Lake (the Hertz trail, I think it is, at the end of the road). It was relatively flat -- a few small hills but no many -- and... More

My brother lives in the neighborhood and we came here for a family sunset picnic. We made fresh soft tacos with sautéed veggies and rice beside the lake and watched the sun set. It is stunning. They have a dog park nearby, but a dog free area with charcoal grills near the water. It was very nice. We saw a... More

We stayed at a B & B on the lake, and had a great time. there was plenty of water sports activity all around, yet the lake was serenely quiet.

This was an unplanned hike. I was driving along the lake, saw the sign, and decided to do a short walk with my dogs before resuming my road trip. Signs are well-marked to this place and there is no fee. A toilet is by the trail head. The main trail is the Hertz trail listed as 3.1 miles long, which... More

Beautiful area….many hiking choices and not very crowded. The trails are well marked and mapped. People are very reserved …not a lot of eye contact or greeting which depending on your personality or expectation, is good or bad.
