My family has been doing annual polar express rides for four years. We moved to Washington last year and were disappointed with the one in Hood River, Oregon, having been spoiled by the great experience we had in Durango, Colorado. We wanted to try a different one this year and we are so happy we did! They provided a pre-boarding... More

It was totally fun! Singing Christmas carols and eating cookie with hot chocolate. I think the complaints are because people just expect too much. It is a short train ride with a bunch of people who can hear a story and sing Christmas carols. When else have you ever gotten to pretend to go to the North Pole to see... More

We went on the Polar Express on the Mt. Rainier Scenic Railroad this past weekend and it was FABULOUS. We took our 3 year old grandson and his great grandmother too. It was so much fun. The actors who were the wait staff, the hot chocolate and cookies, and the sing along was just awesome. I highly recommend anyone taking... More

Have been on this twice. Once for the Easter Train and again just for a ride in general. Both times were a lot of fun. Our kids enjoyed themself and wanted to go again.

Not quite what it used to be. The trains have seen better days and the "station" appears a little more run down every year. I have ridden the train countless times in the last 25 years. But if you want the chance to ride an original steam powered train it is not like there are too many places to do... More

Scenery was good but clouds prevented view of Rainier at one short point on the ride. The ride overall was short and arrived at the museum in Mineral, Washington. Train ride was okay but no exciting. Museum was interesting. Wouldn't do it again and wouldn't be sad if we hadn't done it.

We were wanting to plan our road trip around taking a ride on this steam train while down in the USA from Calgary. So as part of the planning we tried to contact them for ticket information. Firstly, their toll free number does not work from Canada. Secondly, I never got a reply back from the e-mails I sent over... More

This is about as good as it gets for tourist steam engine rides. I recommend you pop for the first class seats where you have a better view of the trees and the mountain. You also get a free soft drink and snack. Beer and wine is extra. Server was helpful and friendly. The Railroad Museum is interesting especially the... More

Despite the unseasonably hot weather, we enjoyed our ride on the train. I would have been happier if we had chosen to pay extra for the air conditioned rail car, but the cheaper rail cars have windows that can be opened about 1/2 way. There wasn't much of a breeze, but the movement of the train provided some air. The... More

We drove up a beautiful hiway to Elbe , Wa. to the Mt Rainier Railroad and historic museum. We road first class on the train up to Mineral Wa to the lumber museum. We had assigned tables and received snacks and a drink on the way up to the mill. The train is handicapped accessible with a lift that is... More
