We visited in April and were the only ones in the parking lot, so after a half mile hike we had the whole beach to ourselves. The walk to the beach was through a fairly easy forest path and was pleasant despite me carrying our 15mo old daughter the entire hike. Definitely recommended if you find yourself on Orcas Island.

We chose to go the .9 mile walk to the campground, and sweet beach, deep, with the coolest pebbles! Comfortable to sit or lay, and enjoy the scenery. The sun was warm, wished I had had my tent and sleeping bag. Site # 5 or 6 , oh, how I wish!

We visited this park in the off season. The trail was fairly short and beautiful in December. There is beach as well as forest to visit, plus a hike in/boat in campground which we didn't visit. It was fairly quick and easy hiking and the park is in a protected area from the wind. I think you may need a... More

There are vault toilets in the parking area and at the campsites. Hike in campsites include a picnic table and fire pit. There is a short well maintained trail to get to the campsites and beach area (.5 mile). You could probably pull a cargo wagon. It is almost a private beach and SO beautiful. A great place to spend... More

We hiked in less than a mile. Beautiful walk in to the area. Pebble beach with not many people there. We had a wonderful day. We walked out a different path which was shorter about 1/2 a mile.

If you are in the area take the time to enter the park and go down to the waters edge. Different perspective (obviously) and if you hit it ar low tide the tide pools are cool to explore.

We had a few hours left on Orcas Island before having to catch a ferry back to Seattle so we decided to drive here and do a quick hike as one of the locals had told us it was worth checking out. You will pass a place where you can by fresh fish and seafood on your way here if... More

I took the loop to the shore and back. It was a decent easy hike. The view from the overlook at the end of the loop is gorgeous.

We wanted an easy hike with lots of nature and this is the place. The trail was well marked through the cool, primordial forest and suddenly opening on a cliff above a beautiful secluded beach and small harbor. This is a trip more for solitude and contemplation than extreme sports. We were the only folks on the black sand beach... More

Obstruction Pass State Park is a small but beautiful park hidden away at the very far tip of Orcas Island. A couple nice trails wind through the temperate rainforest to a few small beaches and some campsites. The views are great and exploring the pebbled beaches was fun. It seems nearly all of the beach access on Orcas Island is... More
