Historic Open Spaces with Great Views!

Went with some girlfriends and was surprised at how big this place is. Great place to sit by the water - although windy the day we were there. Lots of history.

A really cool place to visit. We'll worth any short drive and a nice walk around. Very historical and the guy in the gift shop is great. We ate lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the daily special. Great deal for the price.

Lots of activities happen in this place in the warm months...but we were there in Jan, so we walked around.

In the1890’s, three Army Coast Artillery forts (Worden, Flagler, and Casey) were constructed to create a “deadly triangle” to protect Puget Sound. We visited both Fort Worden, in Port Townsend, and Fort Flagler on Marrowstone Island which are now Washington State Parks. The military housing from 1904 is still standing and maintained, and actually can be rented for vacation stays.... More

Nice place to visit when in Port Townsend. Not far from downtown, you can get there walking or driving 10mins. There are barracks, a restaurant in one of them, beaches though a bit rocky and camping facilities. Lots of folks with dogs on the beaches and you can walk from one side up to the point where there is a... More

This 100-plus year old former military base is full of historical charm in its buildings. Accomodations are unique and comfortable, and the food is great. Walking on the beach and up in the old batteries is a favorite family activity. And we also can attend a world-class concert , take a painting class or visit the marine scienc world. The... More

We stayed in the Castle house while we were there and loved it. Beautiful views from the house. The park itself was really nice as were the people that worked there. Highly recommend this place. If you have a chance to rent the "Castle" house do it!

You can walk for miles on this beach and just keep going. It can be rough walking, so wear your boots or shoes. Bring water and a tide chart or app. You don't want to get stuck - although there seem to be plenty of ways to escape the rising tide.

Fort Worden is a place that my family and I visit whenever we are up in Port Townsend. It is great for all ages that enjoy a bit of adventure and history mixed together. History because the place is an old Fort that was used to protect the Puget Sound from attack. Each time my family visits I can't help... More

Check the tides before you go for a walk along the beach under the bluffs between the light house and the North Beach County Park. Oh and make sure you pick up a free trail map at the gift shop. You will need a Discovery Pass to visit the park unless you park at the county park. If you choose... More
