Great trails with soothing vistas

I've been climbing Kamiak for a few years now and love the clean open trails, the beautiful views from so many points at the top. A great place to trail run as well. Love it.

Beautiful forest, nice slightly rugged path going up and down the butte with a terrific view of farmland at top. My favorite time to catch the view is near sunset (not too close to sunset, cuz that is around the time the park shuts down). Doable, but tough, for little kids. Nice playground at the base across from parking lot,... More

Visiting Pullman from Denver, we were anticipating this hike with our son and daughter-in-law. Kamiak Butte didn't disappoint us with a well-maintained trail and spectacular views of the Palouse. Hiking in late May, we were treated to green vastness with the grain fields spanning over the Hills. Wildflowers greeted us and the shade of the trees made for a very... More

This was a lovely hike outside of Pullman. The wheat fields were very pretty in the setting sun. The trail to the top is well marked and quite steep in places. There's a campground there as well as picnic pavilions. Kaniak Butte offers a nice view of the rolling hills of Whitman county. Great for after work!

Kamiak Butte is a great getaway on the Palouse. It has plenty of hiking trails for the not so extreme hiker, and offers beautiful views of the surrounding lands. Most of the wonderful pictures of the Palouse have been taken from the top of this hill mainly at sunset. This park is open from sunrise to sunset, so really early... More

You can't beat Kamiak Butte for a picnic lunch. Bring food to bbq as they have bbqs (charcoal) at picnic tables throughout the park. A true oasis in summertime that is perfect for couples, families, or just folks looking to "get away" and relax for an afternoon..

About 25 minutes from Pullman, Kamiak Butte provides a getaway in the woods for great picnicking, hiking, and camping. If you want a more gentle hike, follow the main path to the left and hike up to the east ridge for a beautiful view of the Palouse. Keep going and the trail will eventually loop back to the parking lot... More

I camped here while road-tripping through eastern Washington and loved it. The sites are clean and well kept with quality fire pits, cooking grates, and nice picnic tables. Two of the sites are private, a few others are semi-private, and two sites are pretty exposed. Three of the spots have access to small trails that lead to a view of... More
