I was planning to stop and look at this place and maybe get a drink. Outside looked like a junkyard with old cars, it looked rundown. I decided not to park and walk inside after seeing the exterior.

The Java-Jive has been at the same location for well over 50 years. It's a real throwback to the early 50"s when places like this flourished. It really needs a facelift and an influx of capital to spruce up the old place. The food is average at best and the general location is now in need of a serious facelift.... More

An iconic structure truly out of the past, harkening back to the 40's song by the Ink Spots with the refrain, "I love the Java Jive and it loves me." Talk about a funky place! Walk in and you think you might be back in the WWII years! If someone with some money owned this place, it could be turned... More

The Java jive inside is definitely not what people would expect, especially after seeing a picture of the building itself. I had always heard about it and it seemed to me like it would be more of a coffee jazz kind of place, but to my surprise there was a three-piece punk rock 20 something band playing there. Last night... More

After reading an article about the Java Jive in the Tacoma paper, we thought if would be fun to go. But after seeing what it looks like from the street, we were afraid to go in. That may not be fair evaluation of what they have to offer inside, but it's a real dump from outside. If they want to... More

From the title you think it is a coffee place but it is not. It is a night club in the industrial part of town. It is a bit old and run down but nostalgic. Went there to get pictures.

More like Java Dive... I came here simply for a nostalgic picture. Yes, while singing "I'm a little [coffee]pot, short and stout." As an outsider, I truly thought it was a coffee shop. I was extremely disappointed to not get my caffeine fix. With that said, I don't imagine I'm missing out on much based on the look of the... More

Looks like it may have been a cute coffee shop at one point but now it seems to be a dive bar. Definitely not worth the 1 hour drive from Seattle. Needs to be removed from roadside America places to see.

Ok, this roadside America attraction took all but 2 minutes to snap pictures of but over an hour to get to through Seattle traffic. Still? You just GOTTA do these things because HOKEY things like this off the beaten path is what makes us Americans unique! Bob's appears to be more along the lines of a dive bar now that... More
