WINTER OPENING - NOVEMBER to Mid-FEBRUARY TUESDAYS, THURSDAYS & SATURDAYS ONLY 11.00 am to 1.30 TOURS AT 11.30 am & 1.00 pm. Check our website or Facebook page for other information. Poldark Mine (Huel Roots) is the only complete underground tin mine open to the public in Europe and offers memorable atmospheric underground expertly guided tours through several levels of the 18th century parts of the mine labyrinth. Tours are guided and take around 65 minutes for the Main Mine Tour A. One of the oldest educational visitor places in Cornwall, it was founded in 1966 & opened over 40 years ago by the late Peter & Jose Young with the help of many volunteers. Peter coined the phrase ‘a little piece of heaven on the B3297’. There are lovely gardens and a well filled museum with many open air exhibits from an 1846 Cornish beam engine to massive compressors.
