We started in East Troy at the museum. The museum has displays that are interesting to view and some are interactive. The kids seemed to like the interactive displays the most. Souvenirs are available for purchase. While waiting for the next train to arrive, we...More
I've known for a long time that the railroad existed, but it took a gift certificate for me to try it. My mistake. The museum is a small but enlightening. Every volunteer is exuberant and knowledgeable. The food on the train was unexpectedly good and...More
Rode with my parents to Mukwonago and back. The conductor Chaz was incredible. He actually let my husband and I see how everything worked and how it operated. Everything was explained during the ride very thoroughly and kept everyone entertained. Highly recommend.
Took the East Troy dinner train for the 1st time and will definitely do it again. Quaint little museum welcomes you upon arrival. Train departs on time for a smooth quite two hour dinner ride. Fun cocktail menu, I tried the Vesper (mm good). Staff...More

You can stay on the train the whole round trip, which takes about 90 minutes. Or you can get off at any of the three stops. On Saturdays and Sundays, a train departs from the East Troy Depot and the Elegant Farmer Depot every hour on the hour from 10am to 3pm. If you left the East Troy Depot at 10am you will arrive at the Elegant Farmer about 10:25am. You could get off the train there and have 35 minutes to shop, until the 11:00am departure back to East Troy. Or you could continue on the train to Indianhead Park, where you could get off at 10:35am. In that case it would be about an hour before another train arrived to take you back to East Troy.
If you started at the Elegant Farmer, you could depart on the hour for East Troy (say at 10am) and you would arrive in East Troy at about 10:25am. Then you would have 35 minutes to see the East Troy Depot and visit the gift shop before boarding the 11am train back to the Elegant Farmer.
When you purchase a ticket, it is good for rides all day long on the day of the purchase. So you do not have to be concerned about catching a particular train.
