The self-tour well worth it!
Oct 2021 • Friends
I definitely recommend the $5 self-guided tour which can be done in 15 min. You see the first and second furnished floors and can climb the short flight to the light, which you see through plexiglass. The placards and set up brought to life how the light keeper and family lived during the 1800-1900s. A knowledgeable staff member was available to answer questions. Be advised: due to staff shortages, flush toilets through out the park are closed, but there was a pit toilet at the site and throughout the park. It is necessary to pay a $10-$13 daily park pass to access the park. Also well worth it!

Light House on the Water
Aug 2021
First, I'm a mild lighthouse junkie - so this is a place for me. The times are limited when you can see the inside, but you can visit the outside in the park basically sun rise to sun set. Situated right on the water and great for picture taking.

Closes throughout the day for private tours (not posted)
Jul 2021
Pretty area and looks neat, but never got a chance to go inside. They are closed multiple times throughout the day for private tours (trolley and bus tours they either have regularly or know about well in advance). This is pretty annoying to find out, especially when you are taking the time to bike there.

We biked there at 11:15am and it was closed for a private tour but the sign on the door said they would be open at noon. We decided to leave for lunch and came back at 1pm only to have it say it was closed for another private tour which was just starting! We didn't have time in the day's schedule to wait around for it to reopen for the normal guests so we were not able to visit.

It would be nice if they would post their hours somewhere (INCLUDING the private tour closed times). On the front door would be nice too if they will shut off tours multiple times. If we had known we needed to be back at noon because they were going to close again at 1pm, we would have done that! We had no way of knowing they were going to close AGAIN.

CALL AHEAD TO FIND OUT WHAT TIMES THEY WILL BE CLOSED FOR PRIVATE TOURS THAT DAY.

DO NOT BIKE OR HIKE IN UNLESS YOU KNOW THEY WILL BE OPEN, or if you are OK with sitting outside for an hour until you can go in. I would also avoid the time immediately AFTER a private tour time concludes, because crowds gather outside, so then you'll have to go in with a big group of everyone that has also been waiting.

Worth a stoo

Wonderful historical site. Interesting tours about lighthouse life. This site is in need of refurbishment- they are building a fund. They just opened the reimagined Eagle Tower on the other side of the park. Hope this is next.
But worth the trip with great views.

A must see if in the Door County WI. area. The lighthouse is located in the Peninsula State park out on the point of Eagle bluff. It is open for tours for a fee. It is still a working lighthouse.

Cool lighthouse. We didn't pay for a tour but walked around. Loved the views and the history of the lighthouse. Also, a great place to look out into the bay.

Long wait, but interesting

Fun to see the historical site and views were a nice addition. We biked in from the beach, but you can drive to this spot as well.

Nice little stop when you're in Peninsula State Park, unfortunately we were there after hours so didn't get a tour, just snapped some pictures and moved on.

This was our 1st lighthouse. Cool to see how people lived then. We bought many things that we are now enjoying on our trip.
