This is what I would call a dying breed of pub which is very sad. Sometimes you don't want tiny portions, bistro cocktails and 6 Jenga chips; you want friendly people, good pub food and a roaring fire which this pub definitely delivers. The food is great - We shared chilli nachos as a starter, I had ham, egg and... More

Dropped our son off for first day at uni yesterday. stooped for a quick pub lunch and was truly shocked by the friendly young barman and chatty locals. We were all made to feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We look forward to the next visit Thank you

Popped in on Xmas Eve for a festive scoop with friends and family - obviously busier than the norm - great bar staff - friendly locals - will pop in again for some more scoops - I'll tell you what I had a pintos of the EPA and it went down a treat....shame I had the car!

We had dropped our dog off at nearby kennels and fancied a pint before heading home Glad we did as we walked into one of the few proper village pubs left A welcoming landlord serving good beer The kitchen was closed but the menu was good and well priced Next time we will make the effort to stop for food

The GB is located just off the A60 between Loughborough and Nottingham and is a great stopping off point. No parking issues. Great beer and typical pub food. A friendly landlord, chatting locals and diligent staff.

Just passing through (lost) looking for lunch, and found the Generous Briton. Friendly staff and locals who made us most welcome with a good choice on the menu. We decided on the ham and cheese omelette with chips and peas. Chips to die for and the ham must be from a local butcher. Glad we got lost and definitely go... More

THere really can't be many of these places around anymore. Just a plain, straightforward pub with plain, straightforward food. Nice and cosy and warm - offering a fabulous welcome and special nights. Myself and my housemate visited just after moving in to the village. He had fish and chips, I had a burger (with lashings of Stilton and bacon). Booked... More
