Description:

Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee...

Great Lakes Distillery is a small-batch distillery located in Milwaukee Wisconsin. We hand-craft award winning distilled spirits in limited quantities using old world methods and traditions which we believe result in a superior product. We’re a bit of an anomaly in the spirits business - we actually make our own products! We’re a handful of people devoted to the craft of distilling and creating the best distilled spirits possible. As Wisconsin's first distillery since prohibition we are anxious to share our unique products and look forward to meeting people who appreciate high quality craft distilled spirits. Give us a try and see for yourself how unique these hand crafted spirits can be. We are pleased to be able to open our distillery to the public everyday for tours. During our approximately 1 hour tour, visitors will learn about our award winning products, how & why we make them and receive a flight of five products to try (complimentary soda is available for non-drinkers).

great time!!

Had a great time! Had suggested having the guests mash some apples and if they want, have their name on that bottle when it ripens. A personal touch.

A group of us decided to start touring local breweries/distilleries the Friday after Thanksgiving. Thought we'd give GLD a shot. Very informative tour, we learned a lot about the history. Our tour guide was fantastic and the tasting was interesting, but very good.

Had family visit and didn't want to do the usual things so booked a tour on Great Lakes Distillery's website. Arrived early and had a seasonal specialty drink at the bar. The tour covered a bit of history, science of brewing and classification of different spirits. Then the tasting: vodka, gins, rum, and apple "brandy." Fun tour. Worth the ten... More

Very professional and knowledgeable even when the distillery exploded apple particals all of the place to cake us with fruit. They claimed that that was the first time happening and no one got hurt. It was sort of funny. The first thing the guide said was people who need dry cleaning stand to the to the opposite side. He was... More

Went on a whim for a Friday date night. The pre-tour cocktails were delicious and priced fairly (even low for what you would pay in many restaurants). The tour itself was very interesting in discussing distilling in the US and WI and the role Prohibition played. When it came to the tasting, I was bummed 3 were gin, but their... More

We chose not to attend the tour as we have been on many in Kentucky, but we were very interested in what they had to offer. The bartender didn't seem to want to help us until we asked specific whiskey questions. Then we were offered tastings for a small price, exactly what we wanted. The atmosphere seemed like a great... GL is in a wonderful location, south of the downtown area. Tour was short and the facility small but the tasting and education that you get at the tasting is terrific. Sampling all the different types of liquor was very interesting. I don't really like gin but their gin was good. At the end when you are tasting the absinthe... More

This was our second distillery tour, the first being in Galena Illinois. We scheduled the 1 o'clock tour, and arrived at around quarter til. Very easy to get to, and ample free parking around there. Really nice bar/lobby where you can buy a cocktail to take with you on the tour. Our bartender was Jules. She was great. Everything a... More

My wife and I were looking for something different and took the tour. We could not have been happier with our choice. The tour was informative and the tasting was great. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for something different to do.

Our tour guide was fantastic and had a wealth of knowledge about the history of alcohol in the United States. Before the tour started, we were able to grab a drink at the bar and walk around the shop. The tour started on time and lasted for about 45 minutes. We tried about 8 types of alcohol including gin, whiskey,... More
