This museum, in the former home of one of the movers and shakers of the area, offers an in-depth look at the beginning of the papermaking business in Port Edwards, as well as Nekoosa and Wisconsin Rapids. I walked into the house and noticed the authentic integrity of the interior, back to the past when it was constructed. The condition and beauty of the rooms was quite impressive. Alexander House exhibits local artist, and houses many pieces of the local area history. The art is well displayed, like one might expect from one of the famous art houses. The Alexander House features a permanent local museum, telling the story of Port Edwards and its paper mill, and associated concerns. It also contains changing exhibitions, featuring local and national artists working in a variety of different media.
