Excellent Tour

Excellent tour and they decorate for holidays! There are some surprises in the yard and the volunteers are super nice.

My fiancé and I visited this place last weekend and it was wonderful. I was closed for the season but plenty to see outside. It has very detailed signs of everything outside. Very well maintained attraction. Even took the dog for a walk there.

We enjoyed our visit to the Light Station grounds. The view was very nice. The interpretive signs were well done. The lifeboat in which the men did not survive the winter's cold was especially haunting. If you are in Port Washington, be sure to check this out!

Such a great place to visit and wonderful people. Rick Smith, the director, and his daughter Sarah are so knowledgeable about the lighthouse and the area. Be sure to take in the view from the top. Steep ladders, but doable (and partly the fun too!). And they have a great mascot for the lighthouse in Chrissy, Sarah's beautiful black lab.

Stopped by on a whim just as the monument was being secured for the day. We were lucky that we were able to tour this "Maiden of Lake Michigan." The Historical Society has restored this beauty as a labor of love.

Beautiful display of Wisconsin's nautical history. Sarah is incredibly knowledgable about the history of the lighthouse and the area. Great tour, small but nice gift shop and more to see on the grounds.

The 1860 Light Station is a definite place to go when you are in Port Washington, WI. There are so many items that are from the historic Light Station that bring you back in time. You can also go upstairs to the lighthouse, but I couldn't bring myself as I get queasy with heights. If you can do it then... More

Very nice place. A lot to learn about live in those days. The guide showed us a lot of tools and very useful things we had no idea about. The stoves were amazing and had multiplied functions. The most exciting were stairs going from town to the top of the hill. St Mary's church next to the light station is... More

This quaint light station is at the top of the bluff and is easy to get too. The views are stunning and there is a lot of information regarding its history and that of the Port. It can be a bit close quarters at the top. Allow about 30 minutes once you arrive.
