This mansion is definitely worth seeing. It is amazing to see a home restored this well and containing most of the original furnishings. Our tour was very informative and all of our questions were answered. The only downside is that you are not allowed to take pictures inside.

The entire island was excellent - tons of history and some buildings still existed. I wasn't aware of any of this history, so it added to the true joy.

Nice laid-back tour of this sprawling old mansion. Pleasant grounds and friendly staff. Worth the price of admission

The house, office, grounds and other buildings are an important part of the history of Prairie du Chien. It's all been lovingly maintained with many, many original pieces of furniture, and other items, etc. It's stunningly gorgeous and very interesting to learn about. Our guide Maddie was really terrific, we learned alot and she spent a lot of time answering... More

So glad we visited here. Incredible renovated summer home of Louis Dousman and family, 1890's Victorian style home with 90% original furnishings! Just stunning! the furnishing were incredible. Tour guide was knowledgeable. We've toured several historical homes, but this one was superior, just stunning. We will be back, too much to see in one trip. Enjoyed walking around the grounds... My wife and I visited and took part in the guided tour of the house. The tour guide was a local high school or college student whom had learned a lot about the establishment but could have use some customer service training. Her personality was a little too relaxed for this type of work. The house is amazing and very... More

The Curator of the Museum was extremely knowledgeable and thorough. The staff in the Visitor's Center were welcoming, and the Gift Shop was lovely and had a great selection of books. We will return to Prairie du Chien simply for this tour! Many thanks!

We happened upon this historic tour and found it very interesting. The cost of admission seemed high at $12.50 per adult. However, after seeing the tour and the outstanding job done to recreate the period of the villa it is understandable. It is so well done, and visitors are able to access so many areas of the facility which is... More
