A trip to Hosta Heaven!
Jul 2019
If you ever get a chance, this place is definitely worth a look. It is a total surprise. There is a parking lot, and you just walk past the old auto body shop, until it opens up into acres and acres of the most exotic hostas you have ever seen. There are paths of self guided trails that lead you through this insanely gorgeous paradise of 100s of different kinds, colors, and variations of hosta giants to petit baby beauties. You will not believe a place like this exists back there. It is magically peaceful as you stroll through this unreal landscape.

The Best Hidden Secret for Gardeners
Jun 2019
This year was the first time I went to Hosta Fest. Everyone was so helpful, knowledgeable, and friendly. Great prices for unusual hosta. It was great being able to see the adult plants and where they were planted (deep shade, part sun, etc.) to have a better idea of what they will look like when full grown. The grounds are spectacular. If you can't make it to Hosta Fest, go and wander the grounds. Beautiful and free! It may have been my first time, but certainly not my last!

Gorgeous - hard to explain
May 2017 • Couples
We made a trip to Al's for the Memorial Day Hosta Sale. Not knowing what to expect, we were blown away at the expanse of this piece of property and the types and numbers of Hostas what were growing as well as for sale. There are waves of beautiful plants as far as the eye can see. Al and his workers are very knowledgeable, helping with plant selection, etc. The property is like a park, beyond gorgeous. We will definitely come back the next time it is open to the public, at stroll through the natural beauty that has been created here. Just plain awesome!!

Al's is even better than we remembered! And new hostas to boot!
Jun 2016 • Couples
We have visited Al's Autobody and Arboretum each of the last two years and always leave with hostas we had not counted on buying. Al has finally released his 18 year project "Compadre" for sale. The selections we made the last couple of years have performed well; Al takes pride in providing healthy plants for his friends, and his knowledge of hostas is astounding. This is a quiet, peaceful location run by great people that is well worth the travel time it takes to get here.

+400 varieties of hostas in a wooded, shaded, peaceful, country setting
Jul 2015 • Friends
I found Al's when a busload of Master Gardeners booked a trip to this wonderful, peaceful place outside of Walworth, WI.There is no admission charge, but take your wallet because NO ONE leaves without wanting to add hostas to your garden. Al is knowledgeable, as is his staff, and all are laid back and congenial. It is best to call ahead and let them know you are coming. Also, mosquito repellent can come in handy; you are in a wooded, shaded place those little buggars love too. Please visit Al.
