Love the variety of runs for all levels of skiers or snowboarders. I only wish I lived closer would be here all the time. The food they have is much better then other ski destinations in the Midwest. The staff are all very friendly.

I like Granite Peak! Is it Colorado or Canada skiing? Of course not, but if you want something that is a short drive from Chicago instead of a flight, you can't beat it. There are closer hills (calling anything in the MW a mountain is a stretch), but this offers some of the highest vertical and a good variety of... More

Nice three day ski trip with family and friends between Christmas and New Years. Was a little icy due to sleet the day prior to our arrival. Skied in the day. Got seriously busy in the late afternoon but we were done by then. Good live music in the lodge. Food is soso. good bloody mary! Bought lift tickets well... More

It's been seven straight years I took my family to Granite Peak for New Years skiing trip and this was the worst one. I thought last year they ware badly organized. Oh Boy! I was wrong. New Years Eve only two main lifts operating and one on far west side of the slopes. It was a disaster. More waiting in... More

It is what it is...a foothill... in the Midwest; but twice as long as the others in WI. So go! Great snow making for December. Quick lines at the end of the day. Plus 2 for 1 tickets. 1/2 of the mountain was closed when we were there..but if you do your research about certain day only runs open, you... More

This was not our best ski trip to Granite Peak. We decided to drive the extra couple of hours north, hoping for better snow than the Devils Lake area. However Granite Peak did not satisfy. Only about 2/3 of the mountain is open. The top of the peak is steep and very icy, and the rest of the hill consists... More

Lots of runs from green to double black, great lodge, plenty of night life in Wausau, hotels with indoor water parks and you have the perfect winter vacation spot.

This place has transformed into a respectable Midwest ski destination. Way improved from my college days experience. With high speed lifts and a great terrain park, Granite Peak is our go to spot for Midwest skiing. No need to travel the additional 3 hours to Michigan's UP.

Granite Peak Ski Area is a wonderful place to ski in the Midwest. Many runs and good lifts. When I ski alone I ask other lift riders about their experiences there. The only down side they tell me is that there are no easy runs other than the training/bunny hill. I had a season pass for 14 years and have... More
