We had no idea this dam would be that interesting. The interpretive center and film is great and there are some great photo ops there and en route. Strongly recommend for anyone visiting Cody, second only to the Buffalo Bill Wild West Museum.

This location is free and is very interesting. Movie plays regularly and really gives you the history of this dam. When we were there golf cart shuttles were available from the parking lot to the door.

The dam is just outside of Cody about 5 miles on the the road from the eastern exit of Yellowstone Park. You can easily spend about an hour overlooking the dam and the visitors centre. It is free, but a small donation helps with the upkeep of the centre and the kind volunteers that look after the visitors. There is... More

If you're traveling through the area, you must stop and see the dam! The dam offers beautiful views and there is so much history surrounding the dam. During the months that the visitor center is open, it is a must stop and see as well! It's very educational and offers tons of information in the form of maps, artifacts, and... More

Traveling west from Cody the dam is easy to miss. Just as you pas thru the tunnels are signs for the dam. We went back the second day we traveled to Yellowstone and were pleasantly surprised. It was very interesting and we got great pictures from the Visiters Center.

Just a few miles outside of Cody, on way to Yellowstone, we saw a large body of water, which caught our eye. Turns out it is part of the Buffalo Bill Dam project. It came up so quickly that we missed the turnoff, but it looked so interesting that we were able to turn around a short distance up, and... More

Small visitor center and gift shop. Free admission. Spectacular views and the short video in the visitor center makes the structure even more impressive when you learn the history.

So big but so quiet - a nice touch is from the parking lot a golf cart takes you to the dam entrance, which is a bonus in hot weather or fir the infirmed. Shop small but nice souveneers. Dam itself has the wow factor, well worth a stop off.

Not on the same scale as Hoover's, of course, but very interesting. They have done a great job in telling the story behind the dam.
