The Laramie Plains Museum and its home, the Ivinson Mansion, are part of the fabric of Laramie. In addition to a fine museum showcasing not only the victorian mansion itself and a great collection historic artifacts from the Laramie area, the site itself provides a location for countless weddings, receptions, photo settings etc. There is a one room log cabin... it was an amazing tour. Very informative. They said the tour would take a out an hour. It was at least an hour an 45 minutes. Quite interesting. Although there is quite a bit of walking and stair climbing. Three stories so people with difficulties would probably have a problem.

I had an individual tour with a docent who was very well informed about the history of the house and explained every room to me. The house was really something to see and the history interesting. Worth the time

Highly recommend a visit to the Ivinson Mansion. Beautiful. Toured it with my 7 year old granddaughter who also very much enjoyed it. Very nice to have the guided tour. I actually grew up in Laramie. Haven't been back in years. Had only one other time visited the mansion as the museum with my mother - back when it first... More

While this was not high on my list of things to see in and around Laramie, I do enjoy historic house museums (and this one also serves as Laramie's general historical museum). According to their own website: "Summer touring is always full time hours". Well, no, the day I visited they were not open in the morning as was listed... More

I live in Laramie but this was first visit to Invinson Mansion. A docant will take you or your group on a tour of the mansion. You can choose a short or longer tour. Docents are very knowledgable about the history and artifacts on each of the 3 floors. They have a very interesting collection of Western artifacts and memorabilia.... More

Hats off to the volunteers who worked so diligently to return this gem to its former glory. I've toured many mansions and this one ranks with the best. The director of the museum made us feel so wecome. A high school docent, so adorable, gave us a lovely tour. If you are travelling to Laramie be sure to stop here.

The tour through the mansion is guided by high-school students who have an amazing amount of information about the house. While the house contains very few original pieces (most were stolen during the "period of vandalism"), they have been replaced by period pieces. My only request would be that the tour include more of the story behind the family that... More

Beautifully restored piece of Western history filled with lovely antiques, including several hand-carved pieces of furniture. Tour guides are young but knowledgable . Highly recommended.

We have toured too many historic mansions across the USA to count. This rates with the top properties. The positives: the junior high teen girls who led the tour were very impressive in their knowledge of the historic property and their ability to convey it to us, well maintained property, very low entry fee ($7 each for two seniors), friendly...
