Bring umbrella, light jacket, good shoes. Girls bathroom no soap or paper towels. Gorgeous view. Also very large banyan tree.

Unless it is sunny and before 10am you will not see any rainbow. After that time the sun is wrong angle and shadows the falls. Not able to get to bottom but can get near top after mildly strenuous climb on rocky high steps, slippery when wet. Not wheelchair accessible.

What Akaka falls displays in the height of the falls, Rainbow falls displays with the volume of water rushing over the edge. This quick stop allows you to view the falls from several angles and due to the mist from the falls you are sure to see a rainbow from any vantage point! If you are a bit more adventurous... More

These falls were very close to town. We got here in 10 minutes from downtown. Easy access and a quick look. It was a rainy day, but I imagine one would love to stay and take pix with these falls in the background. Beautiful surroundings.

This is a lovely location with the falls and walking trails above them. Depending on the time of day (location of sun) you may have to climb the stairs to the top of falls in order to see the rainbow caused by the mist. Admission is free.

A quick and easy stop to see a beautiful set of falls. Definitely worth a quick stop while in Hilo for a visit.

Rainbow Falls is beautiful...although the day we went there wasn't a rainbow reflection (due to the weather). There is beautiful lookouts, there is wheelchair accessibility, and other hiking if you feel inclined. We hiked to the top of the lookout as well as out onto the waterfall it's self. You should be experienced hikers to do this though, as it... More

I loved this one as I got to see my rainbow. Make sure to walk up steps to left of falls to see Banyan Tree. It was amazing too. Also view from top is different from below and often can see rainbow from the top.
