This waterfall is pretty easy to get to. Park your car and a two minute walk and you are there. You can climb up a long trail with stairs to get to the top of the waterfall if you would like, but we didn't have...More

It's a decent sight and only takes about 10 mins max but if you skip it you really aren't missing much. Some guidebooks say to check out the boiling pots further upstream..don't...they are a massive disappointment.

It's best to go in the morning so that the sun is in the right position to create its rainbows. VERY east to access. Beautiful waterfall.

We went to see this water fall, Akaka Falls and Popolu Lookout in one day. Easy to do in one day and beautiful! We are in 50's. Anyone can do this.

Beautiful area. Definitely go early. Before 10 am when tour buses arrive. Hike up to the top and back along the river. Several small trails wind back to hidden lagoons etc.

This is right in Hilo and easy to get to. The falls are pretty (presumably better in the morning for the light), but I think only about 80' high. If you have the time to see just one waterfall, make it Akaka a few miles...More

This is a beautiful waterfall, but if you want to see the rainbow, pray for sun and arrive just prior to 10am! There were a ton of people from the cruise ship getting off of tour buses, but don't worry, they move along quickly!

We visited Rainbow Falls. It was wonderful, we visited the falls right after a full day of rain. That is the best time to see the falls. Very quick trip and easy in and out. Further up the street is Boilng Pots. Easy in and...More

I see from the photos that it must be lovely to see Rainbow Fall is the sunshine. But that wasn't our fate: it was cloudy and a bit rainy. Nevertheless it was worth the trip! A tip for bad-weather photography: Aim your camera so there's...More

It's a great tour. I highly recommend the all day tour because you will have the chance to sign up for the zip line and the lava tour and also visit warm ponds naturally heated steam ponds in Kapoho.

Hi, no, you cannot get into the waterfall, close but that's it. Lots of spots to take picture though.

We were there about 3:00pm in the afternoon and it was very good. The parking lot is small and can be a challenge. We waited for someone else to leave before we could park but it was not too long. Plan on spending about... More
