This is such a nice little island to walk around. You take a little bridge near the park. When we were there it was full of local families playing, swimming and enjoying themselves. It is a small island which you could walk around in 10 minutes but it was nice to stroll around and enjoy the views

This is the type of place that you like when you stumble across it by accident. It’s a quick stop and only takes about 20 minutes to explore. It’s a small island connected to the Hilo shore park system by a bridge. What I liked was the ruins of a few buildings and marine facilities along portions of the shoreline.

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews or what those people were expecting. Coconut Island is a very small island, nice for a quick walk around if you are staying in the area. We saw a turtle near the island, which was nice. There are picnic tables and a sign on a tree showing how high the waves were during a tsunami.

Love the place! We came back to Hilo after two years and this was a place we needed to visit! Went straight to the jump and my boys loved it. About a 12’ and 20’ jump. Atmosphere is awesome and the amount of of turtles on this day was amazing, like 15!!

Our family walked out to Coconut Island from the Lili’uokalani Gardens while visiting Hilo. The island is small but is a very nice park. There were quite a few people swimming despite signs warning about the water quality. There was also a very large group celebrating a birthday party. We enjoyed walking around and the unique view of the Hilo bay that this park provides. We didn’t stay long but it was a fun stop.
