I can describe this boat trip in one word. UNBELIEVABLE!!! Yes, the trip was a bit rough but not as bad as I expected. You will get wet! It is all worth it. We got within about 30 to 40 feet from the lava. You could feel the heat. They dipped a bucket in the water and it was hot.... More

We were really looking forward to this as it had been recommended by friends. We received email notification of its cancellation 24 hours in advance due to a marine alert for gail force winds and high sea conditions. They offered options for a rebook which we were unable to avail due to timing and promptly returned our deposit. Seeing the... More

The seas were rough the day we took the tour but the boat is very comfortable. Due to rough seas we got wet but didn't mind. Make sure you bring sufficient rain gear just in case. Once we arrived at the lava flow sight it was beyond our expectation. The crew was very accommodating to make sure everyone got a... More

By all means go if you can. We were lucky enough to see a 'firehose' of lava pouring out. I have never seen anything like it and never will again probably. We got so close we could see the embers in the water. It was worth all the rules, bumps and wetness. Go!

This is a must-do, if you are on the big island of Hawaii! Yes, it is an extreme ride out to the lava flow. Yes, it is an experience of a lifetime! Yes it is worth every cent you pay for the trip! Roughly 35-40 minutes each way, then you spend close to an hour watching the lave stream into... More

I wholeheartedly recommend this tour. We took the 5 am sunrise boat this morning and the lava flow was truly awesome! Captain Shane brought the boat really, really close--close enough that we could feel the radiant heat from the lava. We spent about 1/2 hour at the lava flow site and Shane made sure everybody got great views. There wasn't... More

As advertised this is an extreme ride. The Captain is honest about it not being a lake ride. It was windy and choppy yesterday and he's a hell of a skipper. The ride was so much fun but the treat was the tube of lava. You cannot see this and experience the smell heat and sounds any other way. Yes... More

This is a once in a lifetime experience. Take the 1 hour drive to the harbor, climb the ladder and board this boat for the adventure of a lifetime and one you will never forget. Captain and crew were excellent ride was bumpy but doable and smoother than the zodiac boat snorkel trip we took the day before. Look at... More

Shane was up front about the ride, you will get wet,you will see the lava,it is not a smooth ride. It was amazing. Shane took us up front and personal with the lava. They let us be able to feel the water. He gave everyone plenty of opportunity to take pictures. Not cheap but amazing.

This view of the current lava flow is not to be missed. Also, I understand from locals that this particular tour is the best because many other tours use smaller boats and when the weather is bad, which is often, the smaller boats don't make the trip. The only reason I did not vote this a 5 is because we... More
