We recently visited the Farmers markets at Hilo during our visit to the big island of Hawaii. The locals were very friendly and enjoyed giving us a taste of their various produce. We also obliged by buying several items to taste further. A relaxed atmosphere existed throughout our journey through these lovely markets.

Stumbled upon this market while looking for shaved ice for the kids in downtown Hilo on a Saturday afternoon. Local artisans selling everything from handmade jewelry, t-shirts, hats, flower barrettes, sarongs, fruits, veggies, Peruvian tamales, Thai food, Hawaiian BBQ, coconut water, Hawaiian coffee, etc. Spent two hours shopping and snacking with tourists and locals alike!

I am all about fresh food and this is where I come to buy anything I can't grow myself. Love the selection of exotic fruits, local staples, and the array of specialty goods to choose from. (I find the best roasted macnuts here!) Grab a bite to eat while you peruse the different booths!

A must visit during stay in Hilo. Only open Wednesday & Saturdays. Get fresh fruit and vegetables locally grown at reasonable prices. Lots of parking available and if need be can park across the street and get great views of the ocean. Also stroll around to browse the shops nearby.

Go early in your visit so you have time to enjoy days and days of fresh island produce, fresh flowers and baked goods. The cart grilling skewers near the bubble tea place is terrific. Don't miss Filthy Farmgirl Soaps! Such a unique and high quality gift to take home to everyone on your list!

This farmers' market really has local produce, baked goods and other foods including locally-grown coffee, honey, nuts, oils and sugars. Many of the vendors offer free samples which is helpful in deciding whether to purchase their products. Definitely worth stopping in here. There is plenty of free parking in the lot across the street.

There's everything from fruit and vegetables to soaps to clothing to jewelry. Prices seem to be reasonable and vents were very friendly.

One of the great markets in the world, which showcases the vegetables and fruits grown around here. There are also Bento boxes, bakery goods and even Peruvian Tamales. Step across the street and you'll find all kinds of locally made arts and crafts. There's even a place to buy an incredible green papaya salad. A must go to...

Not a good experience on a dreary rainy day. Good buy on fruits and veggies. Downtown Hilo really needs a redo.
