We drove down to kolekole beach park and there was a chain across the entrance road. I was so disappointed as was my guest. I looked into the reason why and it appears that there newly discovered high lead levels in the soil.

Beautiful place to sit on driftwood and watch the surf crash in - huge waves, kids were thrilled. Absolutely not for swimming, however. Some semi-permanent campers onsite, very friendly.

It is very easy to miss this hideaway. Drive slowly and watch carefully. It's about 3 miles from Akala Falls. Perfect spot for a picnic - complete with pavilions. We did see some campers there, as well. Wonderful view of ocean waves coming in. But...More

After seeing signs for this on the road we ventured onto this switchback 1 lane road and came upon this Oceanfront park with waterfalls and stream. Great spot for a picnic - too dangerous to swim at - hidden under a bridge overpass but with...More

This spot is kind of easy to miss (we had to turn around after we spotted it) and when you drive the narrow road down the hill, you have to make a hairpin turn at the bottom to get into the beach park itself. This...More

Very beautiful and peaceful. Nice to sit and watch the waves and waterfall. Was raining when my family and I were there, but it didn't take away from the beauty.

Very nice little park with a stream emptying into the ocean. Great spot for a picnic. Very tropical on the upstream side. Beach is rocky with lots of driftwood. It's a memorable spot under an interesting older highway bridge complete with a small waterfall underneath!

This beach park is more made for grilling or picknick with friends. Swimming is not recommended and the waterfall is very small. There are better spots in this area

Pulled off the road because I saw the sign. Drove to the bottom and was met with a nice strong stream coming from my guess is a waterfall somewhere further up. The view of the bridge and the coast line is pretty cool to see....More

As others have noted, there is no sandy beach, but there is a nice grassy park with adequate facilities for a picnic. Mostly, however, there is a spectacular convergence of ocean, river and waterfall. Kolekole stream gushing down the rocks greets you near the parking...More

Just went there again this weekend. There are only families with small children there every time I've been there, but I do leave before dark to go home, so I'm not sure about the homeless population. It doesn't have much in... More
