I was on a solo holoholo from Hilo to South Point when I pulled in here for a cup of coffee and a pit stop. I did not participate on the tours, but did take some nice photos before I got back on the road.

My favorite coffee was the washed Peaberry medium, which I got in a to go cup. Balanced, clean and medium exactly what I wanted. They have a few other roasts that I tested, but I'm a pretty Medium taste so I wasn't surprised that I ended up with what I did.

They also had chocolates with macadamia nuts and some with pineapple and coconut. These are terrific. The milk chocolate is made with Sunflower Lectin instead of Soy Lectin like everything else, so I could actually eat them!
Mahalo Ka'u for being there when I needed you!

I was introduced to K'au coffee a few years ago and made a point of visiting on the Big Island. We missed their tour because we got preoccupied with watching turtles at Punaluu Beach but we had a great experience in the gift shop/coffee bar. They had at least 7 coffees out for tasting and the knowledgeable barista talked to us about their processes, bean types, and our preferred flavor profiles. We bough a bunch, and then ordered lattes which were some of the best we had all trip! We'll return next time for the tour and more coffee!

My wife and I stopped here on a drive from Hilo to Kona. We were driving clockwise around the Southern part of the island. Part of our goal was to reach the area south of Kona on order to purchase a few lbs of coffee. I work at a coffee roastery and distributorship in the lower 48 and has already made plans to stop at a couple of specific farms further down the road. We stopped here with the goal of trying a different varietal of coffee. Let me just say, this coffee is incredible. I tend to prefer coffees with more chocolate and nutty overtones. The varieties I tried at this place were fruitier. I am sold on the Kau coffee mill and their coffee. Make the drive to this place. You will not regret it!

Beautiful property coffee plantation. Nice cozy store. Very good coffee. We took the self guided tour of the property briefly. The barista was friendly & helpful. There are other tours available but we did the short one ourselves.

Short drive down from Volcano to this wonderful coffee farm that is off the main road. Sampled some coffee while watching a streaming film on the outside patio while waiting for the FREE tour. Tour was informative and it was great to learn about coffee that is grown OUTside the Kona Coffee Belt. Kau Region coffee deffinatley needs better publicity as it is AS good as Kona.

Happened upon this coffee mill/store. So glad we did. A little hard to find (signage not as clear as could be) but lovely place to visit. We did miss the coffee/farm tour, but did see the macadamia trees and coffee bushes as we drove in. We also browsed the retail store. The staff was so accomodating filling us in on all kinds of their processes. I even got to sample a coffee I was interested in even though it wasn't one on display. The staff had some brewed and let me try it. Also an interesting video about the farm over time. The story has some unique items beyond coffee and macademia products.

We followed the signs from the main road (Highway 11), not knowing what to expect - what a treat. After passing loads of macadamia trees, we came to Ka'u Coffee Mill's visitor center.

Definitely worth the trip up the road: the visitor's center features super-clean restrooms, a visitor's center with viewing area for their coffee roasting operation, and a really nice shop. A friendly staff member told us some basic information about their coffees. Samples were available for the different types of coffee and several macadamia nut goodies. The macadamia cookies with coffee coating were surprising delicious!

You may not see many reviews for this coffee establishment because it's a little off the beaten track, but you'll be pleasantly surprised when you arrive.

...between Volcano and Punalu'u County Beach Park. A scenic short drive through Pahala on a pine tree lined road (and some mac nut tree groves). Just follow the signs to a nice vistor center with plenty of free samples and very clean RR facilities.

If you find youselves cruising down this stretch of Hwy 11, just start singin' "Slow down, you move too fast, you've got to make the moment last." Take the time for this short side-trip and I'll bet you'll be 'feelin' groovy' afterwards!

We just had a rare rainy weekend in central TX. We broke open the bag of Vanilla-MacNut coffee we brought home from this mill. Listen to the patter of the raindrops, smell that fantasic aroma from a fresh poured cup and feel the aloha in the moment! Mahalo for these memory refreshers!

My wife and I had just left our B & B in volcano and were heading to Punaluʻu Beach when we came across a sign showing the turn off to Ka'u Coffee Mill. So we thought why not. We had only had a few hours sleep the night before as we did a self guided lava walk and didn't get back until just after 3am. So we definitely could use the hit of caffeine. We were the only visitors there so we had access to all the free samples to ourselves. The coffee was awesome! I think I must have had about 10 cups. The macadamia samples were yummy too! I particularly liked the coffee glazed brittle. After taking full advantage of the generous free samples, we ended up buying a little bit of everything to take home to our family. We timed our visit perfectly. Just as we were leaving a convoy of about 30 people on motorcycles showed up. We drove off towards Punaluʻu Beach extremely satisfied :-)

Off the beaten path but well worth the stop if you're going to buy mac nuts - they have the best price on the island! Staff is very friendly and helpful. Free samples of mac nuts and coffee. They offer a limited menu of lunch items (hot dogs, chili, etc) which we didn't try but were reasonably priced.
