Seeing the firehose-style lava flow was breath taking! Viewing it with the stories and local heritage shared by this company was beyond value. I am not one to post reviews on-line, but this particular group deserves accolades!

We visited on 2/23 on the afternoon tour and it was amazing to watch the firehose flow into the sea. They warn you it's a rough ride and it is, especially on the return. They board the over 60 crowd first, which was 90% of our vessel so being in our 40's we were stuck on the bow. It's the... More

Fantastic bike and hike to the surface flow lava led by an extremely friendly and professional staff member. Jayci went above and beyond to help us out and we had the experience of a lifetime.

Seeing Pele in all her glory was amazing - truly - the Kalapana guys took us out on a comfortable boat to see the firehose of lava jetting out from the rock into the sea and then in the afternoon on a strenuous hike to see top flow lava as well as the sea entrance from above. The boat trip... More

This was the only way to see the extraordinary lava flow up close and personal. Our guide, Herbie, is not only a lifelong resident who lives down the block from where the tour begins, but is a wealth of information of the past, and present of what this area of Hawaii has experienced. He did an exceptional job with our... More

Decided to take a tour to see the lava rather than go on our own. What an great decision. Our guide, Kyson, was excellent. There was no rush and there was only me and my 16 year old son. We left at 3:30 and returned around 8:15pm. The big advantage is that they can drive you in 2 miles leaving... More

Our first tour was to view lava ocean entry at Kamokuna. Our morning hike started before sunrise to permit photographing the lava-ocean interactions without sunlight. Our guide Kyson was great! During our hike to and from the viewing area, I enjoyed learning about Hawaiian culture with my non-stop questions. I enthusiastically recommend Kyson and Kapalana Cultural Tours to help you... Excellent trip, guide and driver explained everything. It was a fast well maintained boat and we had a good view of lava flowing into the ocean.

We highly recommend the lava boat tour with the Kalapana crew! Words don't describe the lava flow right now, other than it magnificent beyond words! Andrew and Ikaika gave us a very professional, safe, first class tour and allowed us plenty of time at the lava flow, giving different angles for perspective. Interesting facts about the areas we passed through... More

The boat tour to see the lava flowing into the ocean like an "open fire hydrant" was spectacular. Andrew and Ikaika kept the boat in position so everyone on board (6 passengers) had a great view. They were very informative with stories of the Hawaiian culture that really brought the area to life. They also paid attention to the comfort... More
