It is a small museum and by the time we arrived it was closing at 8 p.m. which didn't offer us or other visitors - and there were a lot - who came to see the night glow of the volcano - time to enjoy this museum. The employee who informed our tour guide he needed to move us out,... More

Come at night for a view of the lava in Halemaumau Crater. Volunteers told me there might be a long line at sunset; since it was raining anyway, I waited until the rain died down at 10PM and enjoyed the view. Went to the Jaggar Museum again the following morning to see the exhibits, and chatted with a really helpful... More

Heading to Jagger Museum is an absolute MUST to see the Halemaʻumaʻu crater. Lately the lava lake has been spattering, even throwing some large boulder-like material out of the crater. PELE is in charge so you never know what you will see. Don't let a few clouds or even some rain deter your visit. The weather changes in an instant... More

A lot of wonderful information about the volcano! Get there early to avoid the many tour buses in the route! Great view and at this point, the only place to see the lava glow (at night).

Interesting, informative displays about volcanoes inside and great vantage point outside to view Kilauea activity, especially in early evening.

The ranger was great! Answered all of our questions and had a sense of humor. If possible try to see the volcano during the day and again after dark.

Get there early to get a spot on the wall just before sunset to get the best pics. Museum is filled with great displays.

If you want to learn about volcanos and see an active one (no red magma as that is closed off and can only be seen from a helicopter) this is the place. The museum is very informative. There are great pictures and lots to see and read.

If the weather is good, there are good views of the Kilauea Volcano here, along with a neat, well-organized little museum and a gift shop. The ranger talks are often excellent.
