We went to the Farmer's Market there and its worth getting up early to do so. It goes from 6:30AM-9 or 9:30, I think. There's hot coffee and hot food items along with wonderful produce and crafts. Worth checking out. Also most every night we...More

Very, very enjoyable hulu dancers and island musical groups. Lots of local prepared food. Looking in as an outsider, very welcoming and enjoyable event. Bought food from the Tuk-tuk Thai Food Truck, but there were many other above average food vendors. Loved the chicken rotisserie!

You need to go early, otherwise all the good things are gone. Market starts at 6 am and its the best to be there latest 7 am. Locals sell veggies and fruits and there is a very good bakery. The bakery has sold the best...More

It has a farmer's market every Sunday morning with good local produce and food. There is a playground - one of only two within a 30 minutes drive (the other is in the KMC in the Park). There is a covered skate park. Free wifi.

The Volcano Farmer's Market is one of the best on the island. The market in Hilo is more of a bazaar, with multiple tiny "shops" under shelter selling everything from trinkets made in China and other faraway places to island made feather lei and lauhala...More

Hilo's Farmer Market is larger; however, Volcano's Farmer's Market radiates Aloha. I almost missed out. I was chatting with a local, Sunday morning, who was on her way to the market. An enthusiast for outdoor markets, I headed over. Although the market is small: around...More

Go early morning - 7:45-10am. If you go to the stall that sells breakfast sandwiches by two very nice gentlemen, do not pass on the $1 chai tea made with soy milk. SOOOOOOO delicious! The sandwiches are great too - sausage, egg, tomato, cheese, basil....More
