    Beautiful Beach
This is a wonderful beach to go to for swimming and laying in the sun. The water is so blue and a nice temperature. The beach is a bit Rocky so bring your water shoes. There was a bar and restaurant there as well as clean washrooms. Parking is free. There are other things to see nearby but we were too lazy and just enjoyed the beach

    Great day at the beach.
Long beautiful (and roomy) beach about 30 minutes from where we were staying in Kailua-Kona. Interesting area with the 2 fish ponds between the beach and luxe resorts in behind. The day we went the water was quite churned up, so not great for snorkeling, but very enjoyable for swimming.

    Relaxing beach, calm water
We enjoyed this beach setting. The beach in this bay had the most calm water we encountered on our trip. The beach sits on a small strip of land between the bay and a small lagoon. If you walk past the lava lava beach club restaurant, you will likely encounter sea turtles. There are restrooms and lots of palm trees. Parking was easy and a short walk away. This is also known as A Bay beach and Waikoloa beach.

while the water is a bit cloudy for snorkeling, this is a good place to see turtles if you know where to look. it is a great place to watch the sun set. lava lava is a good place to watch the sunset if you want to spend the money.

Wide beach with some sand, though it doesn't stretch into the water far. Still, makes snorkeling entry easy, and the snorkeling is pretty good. I got my best shots of a sea turtle; better than Capt Cooks, and all other beaches I visited. Plenty of parking so you don't have to get there at the crack of dawn, and pretty good shade on the left side, right where you enter, and near the showers and bathrooms. Seemed to be somewhat protected from the big swells, so OK for kids.

For all the times I've written about ʻAnaehoʻomalu Bay, also called "A Bay," I had to include this in my reviews of Hawai'i. There is no better time to come, IMHO, than in the morning before the crowds get here. To see the sun rising over Mauna Kea behind you and the ocean stretched out in front of you... well, it's simply the best way I have ever started a day. I love how accessible this beach is, too, with plenty of parking. It even has a place to eat - Lava Lava Beach Club!

Anaehoomalu is a nice public beach to relax in Kona. The ocean current is not strong so it is good for water activities. It is less than an hour drive from Kona, a popular place for locals. A great place for kids and families.

This is quite a nice—and long—public beach situated along a long public access area. Great for walking in the sand, snorkeling, and watching sea turtles. This is a real gem and not to be missed if you’re staying in one of the nearby resorts.

The first two beaches we visited were all lava rock. This one had real sand, so… a normal beach! It wasn’t too crowded when we went at noon. The water was warm and clear. Sand continues at least 30 feet into the water before you’ll encounter your first rocks. Perfect for swimming, sunbathing, wind sailing, paddle boarding, or just hanging out. A smidge murky for snorkeling but you can still see some fish. You can find shade under palm trees though you will need to keep adjusting as the sun moves. Great beach.

Just beyond Lava Lava Beach Club is Anaehoomalu Bay & Beach. Lots of free parking spaces. There are showers to wash off sands. Toilets and change area onsite. Swimming, snorkeling and paddle boarding is straight ahead. Turning to the left, the beach is more isolated. Here is where you can occasionally see green turtles beaching themselves on the sand to rest. Sometimes the turtles just rest between the lava rocks. Other times they are swimming in the water. You have to look carefully though.

This was a beautiful beach with gentle waves at the swimming beach. Enjoy watching the kite surfers. A large monk seal was up on the beach. A local seal expert was present and provided us with great insight on monk seals.
