Enjoyed playing here

I played the Waikoloa Beach Course about a week ago and thought I would share some observations.

Cons -
*One set of rental clubs were terrible. The set my dad was given included a broken driver (had a rattling sound) and the head of the 5 iron broke completely off while using it at the range to warm up. I will just bring my clubs on my next trip.
*For a "Beach" course, there is only one hole even near the ocean and only around the green has the feel of being anywhere near the water.
*Drink cart stops at about 2pm. This is due to a covid regulation. I didn't realize this so I passed up the first opportunity to make a purchase and then was out of luck the rest of the round.
*It is golf in Hawaii so I wont complain too much, but there is not much scenery or variety in the course, mostly palm trees, lava, and condos.

Pros -
*Staff was very friendly and had our carts and rental clubs ready before we could even go inside and pay. The starter even took the broken 5 iron mentioned above and got a replacement so we could all continue warming up.
*The afternoon we played was not busy. We started about 45 minutes early and there was only one group behind us that never really pushed us.
*A few holes offer some fun water features that either have to be hit over or around.
*Course was in pretty good shape. A few dead spots they were trying to water, but everything else was great including the greens.
*Fees were roughly $100 for our 2:30 tee time. This included the round of golf, cart, and cooler with four bottles of water. Rental was $55 for Cobra clubs. Golf tees were also handed out, but balls are supplied by the golfer or purchased at the pro shop. I didn't look closely, but it seemed to be mostly Chrome Soft in the pro shop.

I would play Mauna Kea or Mani Lani before playing the Waikoloa Beach Course again. This is partly due to wanting to try the other courses and partly because of what is outlined above. I would recommend the Waikoloa Beach Course and would definitely play it again. Had a blast and it was awesome that it was not crowded.

Fun resort course
Jun 2021
This is not a bad course if you want to enjoy a leisurely round of golf with some good views. The scenery and course conditions pales in comparison to the Mauna Lani South and Mauna Kea Golf courses but it's also considerably less expensive. All in all a good course to get a good round in and shoot a good score.

Fun course, great view on hole 9

Nice golf course with some easy par 3s mixed in with some longer par5s. While there were some water hazards there were also some lava rock bounces that helped out along the way. Depending on the weather, the wind can really kick up and gust your ball around. No one was rushing us along and they have a stunning view of the ocean on hole 9.

Beautiful course, bad round
Apr 2021 • Couples
My husband and I paid the twilight rate ($98) to get in 18 holes. The course was not tough at all and the starter did a great job spacing groups out.

We loved the holes with ocean views and all of the black lava. However, the tees were all pushed forward due to the holiday weekend and we had more views of the backyards of condos than the ocean.

Not a bad course, but hoping to experience a more scenic course and enjoy a better round the next time.

The starter each day I golfed here was chill, which felt “Ohana.” The scenery is stunningly beautiful, worthy of many photos. Several COVID restrictions made it feel weird (no rakes, no sand to fill in divots). Being a Bay Club owner got me $99 vouchers. Golfed with my son which I will cherish. If you fly first class definitely bring your own clubs.

Fun course to play. Typical resort course, big fairways and beautiful views. Par 70 on the beach course, not a difficult course but enjoyable.

Had a great round at Waikaloa Beach course. Course is in great shape, has a great mix of challenging yet rewarding holes . Number 8 with the Pacific Ocean backdrop is amazing. Would play here again anytime !!

disappointing

kings course does not have views of the water like some other courses do. layout is resort style ie: wide fairways and slow greens. no real juice or excitement to this course. course conditions spotty, ball marks on greens not fixed, bare spots in fairways. not worth the 126 per round

Love playing in and thru the lava fields. There is really only one ocean hole but it is beautiful. I like the elevation changes in the lava and the course which makes it most interesting and enjoyable. I have played it on each of our four vacations here.

A very enjoyable course

I liked all aspects of the course. Check in was smooth, rental clubs were new Cobras that were high-quality, driving range was small but adequate. The course itself had wide fairways, but was still somewhat challenging. The rough was tougher to get out of than it appeared to be. Conditioning was good. Pace of play was 4 hours. The facility has a multi-day discount that made it a relatively good value.
