We enjoyed sitting on the beach watching the surfers do their thing. This was the best place we found to observe the surfers on Kauai. We were amazed at the young ages of some of the surfers, pretty amazing!

We stayed in a VRBO home in walking distance to Hanalei Beach, so some subset of the group went to the beach every day of our visit. This was a great beach for all ages, from the 2 year old through the 70+ year old. The sand is soft and easy to walk or run on, the waves aren't too... More

I have only been to the big island and Kauai, and in my opinion this is the best beach on the two islands. It is a nice big sandy beach, with the sand stretching way out into the ocean so you do not have to worry about lava rock or coral while surfing and boogie boarding. Lots of room to... More

6 of us visited Kauai over Christmas Break 2016 and it was my 80yo mother-in-laws first time to not only Hawai'i, but also to a coast or ocean. We stayed at a beach house in Kapa'a and checked out the beach's in walking distance and they were full of litter or the waves were merciless. I did a recon drive... More

Unfortunately the weather wasnt great, but we still had some nice views at the bay. Mountain range looks surreal with the clouds and foreground. Didnt swim as it was a little choppy and cold, but worth just visiting for the happy snaps. Parking filled up early, and like most places in Hawaii, best to go early

Walked the beach for a few hours - stunning area. There are beautiful Jurassic shade trees along the beach - great shade/sun option.

Hanalei Bay is absolutely breathtaking and this beach provides you a front row seat. Our kids had a blast boogie boarding and building sand castles while we enjoying the evening views. Drawbacks are the parking (limited) and condition of the parking area (ocean sized potholes full of water). With that stated, once you got the beach the waves crashing on... More

Nice quiet beach with calm waters very close to the town of Hanalei. It is often crowded so get there early. There is a place to change your clothes and some bathrooms. Plenty of dining close to the beach.
